Global IP Block Exemption

[edit]

Hello User:Tks4Fish I would love to request for an IP block exemption. I am currently hosting and facilitating two different events ( Digital Skills for Youth 1.0 and Wiki4SDG in Ghana) here in Ghana and my new editors in particular are unable to create accounts due to the IP block. I would love it if you can kindly unblock this IP address as soon as possible because it is not helping my campaign. (The IP addresses are 154.160.9.33 & 41.66.202.51, i use two different networks depending on which network is best in the geographical area where i am hosing the events). I have also added information they get when they try creating new accounts; Your IP address has been blocked on all wikis, some also cant check their contributions due to the ip block. The block was made by Tks4Fish (meta.wikimedia.org). The reason given is Open proxy: Visit the help page if you are affected. Start of block: 16:28, 4 April 2022 Expiry of block: 23:28, 30 April 2022 Thank you. Best regards --SAgbley (talk) 12:51, 22 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Permanent

[edit]

Hi @Tks4Fish:, Hope you are fine there. With the permission you had granted (GIBPE on 14 February 2022) me since that I am not facing that autoblock issue. That permission will be expired on 14 May 2022 with couple of days left. If you think than could you please make it me permanent or I request personally to give the rights of IP block exempt? To prevent from such issue as I remind you that I am not violating any guidelines and policies of the Wikipedia. Thank you! Fade258 (talk) 08:15, 12 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Blocked IP address

[edit]

You blocked my account indicating that I'm using an open proxy in Nahuatl Wikipedia, i don't use open proxy, VPN or any IP changing software i believe the block was not necessary as those don't apply. I have been using the device to upload for a while now without any problem. And Im using my home wifi alone so there is no anyone else using it who could be using those services. --Koatochij (talk) 13:54, 10 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Blocked IP address

[edit]

@Tks4Fish I was simply just working on my sandbox on Wikipedia when it said, "This IP address range has been globally blocked.". I don't know why its blocked, its not a VPN. It said you had blocked it and I would like to simply know why? and if it will be unblocked @Tks4Fish. The IP address or range 3.144.83.179 -- Averan Republic (talk) 16:53, 15 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Administrator grants

[edit]

I'd like to ask. Why do you give temporary administrator access to gorwikipedia admin? This is the umpteenth time for gorwikipedia. As for banwikipedia (1 and 2), one time request, administrator access granted is forever. Regards, Ezagren (talk) 06:33, 24 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

IP Range - Avanti Trains

[edit]

Hi - you don’t appear to answer your messages, which is concerning, but I would like to ask why you have blocked the IP address for Avanti Trains, travelling between London and Manchester, UK. The block is VERY inconvenient, and I would appreciate an explanation as to why you put it in place. KJP1 (talk) 22:42, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi @KJP1! Sorry for the delay. First of all, it's not that I don't reply to messages, it's just that I've been really busy lately, and most of the posts above are rendered moot after some time. Now, about your post, can you please share what is the affected IP so that I can take a look? Best, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontrib (he/him) 12:49, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Apologies - it was rude of me to suggest you don’t reply. We are volunteers, after all. The problem I have is with the Avanti Trains wifi between Manchester and London. The range is blocked, so it doesn’t allow me to edit from the train, even when signed in. Any way it can be unblocked? KJP1 (talk) 12:58, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@KJP1: I can take a look if you send me one of the affected IPs, as I can't find out what is the affected range only with the ISP name :/ Best, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontrib (he/him) 13:00, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ah, right. Leave it with me and when I’m next blocked on the train, I will make a note of the ip and send it on. Many thanks KJP1 (talk) 13:09, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Blocked IP address

[edit]

You blocked my IP address (138.199.47.161 and the block ID is #320883) suggesting the usage of a VPN. This was probably because my laptops have to go through a mandatory university VPN, but I can't uninstall it. (Note that now I needed to use a third-party commercial VPN to be able to contact you). Thank you.

Blocked username Muklebor

[edit]

Hello, I'm checking the global account of User:Muklebor.[1] He has made a number of useful contributions to the Slovene Wikipedia and it is not clear from the log what was the spam about. Could you please check this/let me know the details? Thank you a lot. --Eleassar my talk 13:55, 15 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, @Eleassar! It was related to the locks here, which involve a crosswiki spam farm with some more already locked accounts. They were all CU-confirmed to each other, so that's the main reason. All the best, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontrib (he/him) 14:11, 16 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
@TadejM, since you've been renamed. —Thanks for the fish! talkcontrib (he/him) 14:13, 16 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the reply, Tks4Fish. Unlike Muklebor, which seems to be a good-faith editor, I don't see any useful edits with other listed accounts. Would it be possible to unblock this user? How reliable is CU? --Eleassar my talk 17:33, 16 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

LTA originado no Brasil

[edit]

Chamado "Pecy". Ver item no Wikidata:Q114393422. Kacamata (talk) 22:12, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Why did you block me?

[edit]

I don't understand why my IP was blocked. I've never vandalised any wiki pages or broken any of the rules. I never even received a warning or notification from the admins that my account was going to be suspended. 53zodiac (talk) 19:13, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Blocked IP adress / proxy

[edit]

Hello, I seem to be blocked from editing pages, but I don't understand why, and I think I was "blocked" unfairly. Is there anything I can do to get access again and edit pages? Lamartine 69 (talk) 12:16, 20 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

mbox and User:Tks4Fish/contribsFooter.js

[edit]

Hey, wanted to alert you to the fact that mbox and related styles will soon only be in TemplateStyles. See this discussion. Previously I've suggested for script authors to import (however appropriate) the CSS from the TemplateStyles page into the script (see a previous discussion where mw.loader.load was apparently successful). You can pull the styles in otherwise as well (which would save someone-probably-me some potential future grief when the elements these styles go with are converted to divs from tables). Izno (talk) 00:58, 5 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

It looks like you can/should also do the same with Template:Flatlist/styles.css. Izno (talk) 01:01, 5 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Your feedback is requested

Hello Tks4Fish, We are conducting a poll of global renamers and stewards regarding some future toolings related to some rename requests. Your feedback is requested at the poll on VRT WIKI. Best regards, — xaosflux Talk 00:18, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, dear Tks4Fish! How are you? I would like to draw your attention to the request for comment that I made in July, 2023. As the situation has deteriorated since then towards the open vote fraud by the bureaucrat, a timely consensus on the part of stewards has become even more essential for the implemention of rules in Belarusian Classical Wikipedia. Script Publisher - Community Wishlist 2022 implementation update

[edit]

Hello Tks4Fish,

I hope you are doing well. I am reaching out regarding the Community Wishlist Survey 2022 proposal you supported: “A bot or gadget to publish public Git repo to a gadget or user script”

Over the past few months, I have been working on implementing this as a Toolforge-based OAuth application called Script Publisher. The goal is to provide a web-based interface that allows users to publish JS/CSS files from a public Git repository (e.g., GitHub) directly to user scripts or gadget pages, with explicit preview and confirmation before publishing.

Current project links:

  1. Toolforge deployment (work-in-progress MVP): https://script-publisher.toolforge.org/
  2. Source code (public repository): https://gitlab.wikimedia.org/toolforge-repos/script-publisher/
  3. Initial demo prototype: https://wikipublisher.vercel.app/

The tool currently supports:

  • Public repository fetching
  • File selection (JS/CSS)
  • Mapping files to target wiki pages
  • Preview before publish
  • Manual publish flow (no background automation)

The main blocker now is OAuth approval for JS-editing permissions. WMF security has raised valid concerns around applications that can edit JavaScript pages, especially site-wide JS. The discussion is ongoing here:

  1. User_talk:Dev_Jadiya#Script_Publisher
  2. https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Steward_requests/Miscellaneous#OAuth_permissions

Since you originally supported this wishlist proposal, your technical input and perspective would be extremely valuable. In particular:

  • Does the current MVP align with what you expected from this wishlist?
  • Are there safeguards you believe are necessary for responsible deployment?
  • Would you be willing to share your view in the ongoing Meta discussion?

My intention is not to bypass any security expectations, but to implement this in a way that is aligned with community review standards (similar to bots or interface editors), while keeping the tool transparent, auditable, and limited to user-authorized edits.

Thank you again for supporting the original idea. I would truly appreciate your feedback. Regards, Dev Jadiya (talk) 14:40, 7 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
