Globe of letters.png

Hello. You are receiving this message because you are active in the field of translations <3 The movement needs you! The Nominations phase has started for the ongoing selection process of two Board members, and the timeline is quite tight.

A Translation Central is available to help translators figure out what's been covered and what's left to do. Over the course of the next few weeks, your attention on candidates' profiles is particularly welcome.

While there are four languages that are especially relevant for multiple affiliates (namely Arabic, French, Russian and Spanish), we are asking your help for Chinese, Ukrainian, Bengali, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Polish, Farsi, German, Cantonese, Finnish, Hindi, Thai, Dutch, and Greek, as these also matter to affiliates!

04:53, 22 May 2019 (UTC)

Abraços, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontribs 14:15, 24 May 2019 (UTC)

User script to access other watchlists[edit]

Hi Tks4Fish,

If you remember, you participated in the 2019 Community Wishlist Survey, including the discussion for reviving "Crosswatch" to allow for cross-wiki watchlists (Community Wishlist Survey 2019/Watchlists/Revive Crosswatch tool).

I sent you this MassMessage because I wanted to let you know that I have made a user script to make accessing your watchlists on different wikis easier, since for now that wishlist item has not been actioned.

The way it works is that, on any wiki, when you look at your watchlist, there is a button labeled "CA" that takes you to the CentralAuth page for you. There, when looking at your own information, each link to a wiki ("meta.wikimedia.org", "www.wikidata.org", "de.wikipedia.org", etc.) is changed so that it links to your watchlist on that wiki.

If you are interested in using it, just add mw.loader.load('//meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:DannyS712/Watchlist.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript'); to your global javascript page. This imports the code at m:User:DannyS712/Watchlist.js.

If you want to learn more, there is documentation for the script available at w:en:User:DannyS712/Watchlist. If you would like to discuss the script, talk to me at m:User talk:DannyS712.

Thanks, --05:50, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

@লেলীন: from what Ruslik told you, your IP is not globally blocked, so there is no need for us to grant you GIPBE. You can try to ask for it to a local sysop where you are blocked. Best, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontribs 16:55, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

Please unblock T-Mobile US IP address range[edit]

This block for this T-Mobile IP address range is too long that it's causing too much of a collateral damage. Please, would you unblock this range?? Thank you! 130.0.222.228 19:33, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

The T-Mobile range is not going to have the block settings changed, full stop. —Thanks for the fish! talkcontribs 19:37, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

103.86.192.74[edit]

Lifetime open proxies

Hey Tks4Fish, thanks for blocking 103.86.192.74! I would suggest reducing the block to a 3-month block. Most open proxies die quite early (see the graph on the left, for example) and don't survive the 3 month mark anyway. On the other hand, if the IP stops being an open proxy and switches owner, we would have blocked a legitimate user's IP. --MrClog (talk) 08:23, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

@MrClog: I've replied to you on ToBeFree's talk on enwiki, so I'd just like to thank you for the data you brought here :) Best, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontribs 21:19, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

Additional socks for the LTA[edit]

Please look at fawiki block logs, specifically users that I blocked today where I mentioned you in the block log. Those are all socks of the same LTA you have been locking recently. I recommend locking these as well. Huji (talk) 18:06, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Hjh874[edit]

Hi, I'm handling an SPI case on enwiki, en:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Hjh874. It would help to have some understanding of the lock on Hjh874. It appears to have sprung from "impersonation" of Hjh474. Is this the equivalent of a soft block on enwiki (change your name and we'll let you edit again) or a hard block (for malicious impersonation)? Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Cabayi (talk) 20:29, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Hey @Cabayi:! This was a hardblock, as a malicious impersonation. This user was a vandalism-only account who was also abusing xwiki. See also Steward_requests/Global/2020-06#Global_lock_for_Hjh874_and_Ng874. Best regards, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontribs 18:08, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Question on User:2600:1009:B000:0:0:0:0:0/40[edit]

What long-term abuse cause this range to be blocked for a month?

And what did the range even do the cause it to be blocked?

Help needed – Block ID #206397[edit]

Dear Tks4Fish, I need your help. I am trapped by a block that you started at 20. Jun. 2020. Every time I log into the internet my provider assigned to me an IP-address in the range of 89.15.236.xxx or 89.15.238.xxx. With that I am totally blocked and have no chance to edit anything including my own disk-pages. I have tried several times to send a request via the „Contact Stewards“ form but there was no reaction. Today I am using the internet connection at a friend of mine to write to you directly.

The blocked range is 89.15.236.0/22 and the block ID is #206397. I have done nothing wrong, can you please unblock my account? Maybe it is possible to create an individual exemption for me. Thank you very much and best regards --Sonnesatt (talk) 15:13, 7 July 2020 (UTC) (Pls keep in mind that with even blocked disk-pages I will not be able to answer in any way.)

@Sonnesatt: I've added Global IP Block Exemption to your user, so you should be able to edit other wikis normally. As for Meta, I'll ping @Vermont:, who's a local admin and may add a local exemption for you. Sorry for the problems caused by the block. Best regards, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontribs 16:37, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
Sonnesatt, I have granted local IPBE to your account on Meta-Wiki. Apologies for the problems relating to the (g)blocks, and happy editing! Best, Vermont (talk) 16:54, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

IP Block 206397[edit]

Dear user Tks4Fish,

Sadly I am unable to edit any pages in the wikipedia or at any wikimedia pages whatsoever, even when I log in with my username, because my IP 89.15.239.14 got blocked. Could you be so nice and unblock it for registered users again? You can look at my contributions to see that I don't contribute to wikipedia.de by long-term abuse how the block reason tells, but make useful edits.

I understand that IP-blocks have to be in cases of abuse, but how can you block the registered users with these IP's, too? You as a person with the right to make IP-blocks, I suppose you heard of dynamic IPs. If an IP is trolling, block the IP, if a registered user is trolling, block the user, but don't block registered users just because they had bad luck to get a "bad" IP!

Another problem is that in order to be able to complain about such a block you have to use VPN which is very discouraged by wikimedia and to circumvent the blocks which protect wikimedia of VPN. I had to try different servers to be able to write this message to you. Other users don't have the knowledge or patience and just give up - "if they don't want me here, then I'll better go."

I hope that you can unblock me soon. And I hope you didn't take my message as an insult. I admit I got a bit angry, but hey, errare humanum est, and I am glad that there are people like you outside fighting with vandalism.

--Lesendes Okapi (talk) 14:56, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

@Lesendes Okapi: I'm really sorry for that. Per your message and the one above yours, I've changed the block to affect only anonymous users. The block was made for all users because the check I made didn't indicate that the range was busy, which meant a hardblock was possible. I now see that is not the case. I didn't take this as an insult at all, you can rest assured. If you need anything else, please let me know. Again, I'm really sorry for the inconvenience caused. Best, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontribs 15:04, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

@Tks4Fish: thank you very much! This was very fast, I didn't expect an answer at all before monday :D No inconvenience was caused, and how could I be mad at a Douglas-Adams-Fan? --Lesendes Okapi (talk) 15:36, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

89.15.236.0/22 (Lutz Fehling)[edit]

Unfortunately, Lutz Fehling (the LTA that is the target of this rangeblock) wasted little time after his block expired, posting a small bit of nonsense here, but lots of it at enwiki. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 08:11, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

Locked 196.22.252.138[edit]

The problem here is that guys like Tks4fish are trying to gain points by locking profiles and deleting pages. I'm quite positive that this policy of rewarding for number of blocked users or number of deleted profiles is absolutely wrong. Oh you blocked 1000 profiles here it is a medal from Wikipedia. Justify why did you delete my profile?
