Project Plan[edit]

Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. What content will the contest focus on, and why is it important to your community?

It is meant to be a WikiAfrica pilot project, running in 4 schools, two north of Benin and two south of Benin.
Online: a portal will be created on Vikidia, to host all information related to it. It will be the place where we will rules and guidelines to participate to the contest, list participating schools, showcase articles produced, give news of the project etc.
Offline: the Benin wikimedians will work with 4 schools during the School year. Schools will be equipped with offline material from Kiwix and WikiFundi, on a raspberry PI. Teachers will be trained and students will write articles. Wikipedians will ensure those are integrated to Vikidia (and as much as possible, relevant content to Wikipedia as well) with media content added to Commons.
At the end of the year, a jury will select the best articles, and rank schools ! They will receive certificate and prizes !

2. How will you let people know about the contest?

Offline: Word of mouth and posters will be printed and displayed in schools
Online: We will use social media pages (Facebook, Twitter ) to reach people online.

https://www.facebook.com/WikiAfrica/

3. How will you judge the contest and award prizes?

A jury of 3 Wikimedians and teachers will set criteria and will select the best on these criteria.

4. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets and feel free to add more:

For writing contests:

  1. Number of participants : 4 schools
  2. Number of articles created or improved : 8 (2 articles per school)
