My Experience

[edit]

WikiIndaba provided me with a unique opportunity to learn from, share with, and network with Wikimedians in Africa and the Diaspora. It was insightful with a plethora of new project ideas that promote open knowledge and open access.

Using AirMeet Platform: I could not access the conference via mobile phone as it kept logging me out and it GUI was restricted to only web application. Also , the web application was data consuming.

I presented my session at the main Conference: Wiki GLAM Awareness for Librarians in Kwara State I shared my report on the Wiki GLAM awareness and training for Librarians in Kwara State project to expose new and existing Wikipedians to the strategy used in creating awareness on the various Wikimedia products/projects that Librarians in Kwara State can adopt to promote media and information literacy, and open access to information for library patrons in Kwara State. I highlighted the project goals, action points and outcome of the awareness campaign.

Outcome

[edit]

Has a useful outcome of Wiki Indaba 2021 for the Wikimedia movement and African Wikimedians, I am currently working on a project to create visibility for Libraries and notable librarians in Nigeria on Wikidata; I am also part of the trainee of trainers for the reading Wikipedia in the classroom program by the Wikimedia Education Team; and I am delighted to share that, I will be presenting my topic once again at the next Wranglers Mozillafestival 2022 as my proposal got approved for a presentation at the conference come 7-10 March 2022, to connect with others around the world who have a single mission: for a better, and healthier internet.
