Wikimedia Summit 2022/Program Outline/br
General Outline
Purpose & Desired Outcomes
Welcome, Onboard, & Include Newcomers to Movement Strategy
Movement Strategy is about equity and upholding a space for diversity of perspectives. Making a dedicated effort to welcome, onboard, and include new voices will ensure that diverse contexts are considered and the content of the discussions is enriched by perspectives throughout Movement Strategy implementation
PAL:
- Welcome and include participants who are new to the Movement and/or new to Movement Strategy - welcome their questions, their perspectives, their needs.
DISOC'HOÙ:
- Newcomers are welcomed, onboarded, and find their agency
- A greater diversity of voices, ideas, cultures, realities are incorporated into Movement governance and structural reform, Movement Strategy implementation, and partnerships.
Weave Movement Unity & Celebrate our Diversity
Movement Strategy is about coming together as a movement to strive towards collective impact. Increased level of togetherness reduces the barriers to collaboration and increases the sense of purpose working towards our 2030 goals.
PAL:
- Bring movement organisations and groups closer together
- Increase understanding of the similarities and differences between Movement actors.
- Celebrate achievements since last Wikimedia Summit (April 2019).
DISOC'HOÙ:
- Movement organisations and groups leave with a renewed sense of purpose, belonging, and agency for collaboration and Movement building.
Build Partnerships & Coordination for Movement Strategy Implementation
In order to achieve the ambitious goals set by the Movement Strategy's Strategic Direction and Recommendations, we (all participants) need to learn how to collaborate across the Movement. The Summit can function as a platform for this.
PAL:
- Foster, facilitate, and encourage networking, collaboration, and partnership across the Movement for MS implementation.
DISOC'HOÙ:
- Mapping - of who is doing what / where (even if/when that action is a "flying solo" activity).
- Participants leading initiatives connect with others, gather input, identify supporters, and coordinate.
- Participants leave with mutual support, ideas, clarity for strategic plans/planning that aligns with Movement Strategy.
- Participants leave with a strong understanding of how to effectively and successfully apply for and receive Movement Strategy Implementation Grants for Movement Strategy implementation.
Ensure Equity in Decision-Making
Based on the Movement Strategy Principles and Recommendations, we (all participants) need to ensure a sense of ownership and agency across the Movement to undertake the structural changes needed to ensure our ability to meet our shared 2030 goals.
PAL:
- Make governance and structural reform a joint endeavour of stakeholders from across the Movement.
DISOC'HOÙ:
- Space for and practice of listening to each other for a more productive debate.
- Participants engage with governance, structural, and resource-distribution models and practices.
- Topics affecting governance and structural reform such as Movement Charter, Revenue Generation, Resource Allocation, and Hubs are connected.
