Newsletter

This is the second newsletter of Wikimedia Wikimeet India 2022, which is going to be conducted by CIS-A2K. This virtual meet is the second iteration of Wikimedia Wikimeet India and the dates will be from 18 to 20 February 2022. The meet is dedicated to International Mother Language Day and it has its focus areas as well. During this event online workshops, presentations, discussions, lightning talks, interactive sessions etc. will be conducted. In this newsletter, we will discuss what work is already done and what works have to be done in the upcoming days.

Completed tasks[edit]

As mentioned before, WMWM 2022 is a second iteration of the Wikimedia Wikimeet India. A few things have been already done.

  • Contacted a few Wikimedians for Program Committee.
  • The first newsletter was sent to all Indic VPs and a few Wikimedian's user pages.
  • A couple of short videos received from Indic Wikimedians.
  • Start contacting the community members in person as well.

Community engagement[edit]

This Wikimeet is going to be conducted, especially, for Indian communities. For engaging them we are trying to mobilise responsible editors or contact persons who can engage their communities. If the community is interested in setting up an introductory call, we are happy to arrange the same.

Submissions[edit]

The submission period has been started on 23 December 2022. We expect submissions from Indian communities or Wikimedians. We are inviting you to select some important topics and prepare a presentation for submission. We welcome the submissions in any language of your comfort. Language is not the barrier to this event.

Get involved![edit]

Why should you get involved in this event?

Together, we are trying to create an online platform for Indian Wikimedians who are stuck at their places due to COVID-19 situations. We all are not able to conduct the on-ground events or meetings but the exchange of ideas, brainstorming on challenges and learning through sharing should continue for the healthy growth of the Wikimedia movement in India.
