Austrian Award for Free Knowledge[edit]

Basics
  • in a nutshell: For the first time Wikimedia Austria awarded the Austrian Award for Free Knowledge. The Association Open Knowledge Maps was awarded the price in the category for active citizenship for free knowledge. Institution of the year 2020 is the FWF Wissenschaftsfond (science fond) and Prof. Hermann Maurer was awarded with the special category for his life time achievements. The ceremony was part of the Vienna Ball of Sciences on January 25th at the Vienna City Hall. The awards were handed out by Vienna's mayor and governor Michael Ludwig and the Minister of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology Leonore Gewessler.

Coordination meeting Government Program AT[edit]

  • in a nutshell: Austria got a new government and together with our partners in the netpolitical sphere we organized a coordination meeting to analyse the government program regarding common challenging (e.g. transposition of EU copyright reform, plans to prohibit anonymous handles on media platforms etc)
