This page is for requesting the creation of a user account on the Wikimedia Foundation's website (not on any other wiki).
  1. To ensure that users are already familiar with the policies of at least one Wikimedia project, those applying for an account should be administrators or active editors in good standing [on any Wikimedia wiki], particularly active editors and translators on Meta and movement-level projects, or members of a Wikimedia committee or Chapter. Creation of an account is not automatic and is subject to approval.
  2. To ensure that requests are not forged, only registered users on Meta can submit requests. Please keep this page on your watchlist and check back on your request; you may be asked for more information before a request is accepted or rejected. If you do not respond, your request may be removed.
  3. After seeing your request fulfilled, please archive your section. Thanks!

Please provide:

  • your username, with a link to a Wikimedia project where you are an admin or the names of the committee(s) or local chapters of which you are a member
  • a valid email address (not Special:Emailuser. We need a valid e-mail address to plug into the "create an account by e-mail" form.)
  • the reason(s) you need an account
  • your dated signature

Please note: You do not need an account on the Foundation wiki to help with most translations, and requests for accounts simply to translate will be denied. Translation work is done here on Meta-Wiki so that many people can collaborate and so that pages can be proofread before being published. If you wish to apply to do "wikignome work" please first spend time being active on Foundation wiki feedback or other Meta-/Foundation-level projects.

Thank you for your interest!

  • E-mail address: base-w at yandex.ru
  • Reason why I need an account: I'd like to done my own request at FWF (It's not developer's part actually - I cant set an extension. I hope I could have not just an account, but also ns8 access) and then do other stuff like translation the interface (there is quite many things that cant be done here or at twn), and perhaps updating/fixing some minor things. --Base (talk) 17:31, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

  • Projects where I'm involved: Sysop on Simple English Wiktionary and Incubator (also bureaucrat)
  • E-mail address: admin at alphacorp.tk
  • Reason why I need an account: There are a couple of pages that I would like to help out in fixing. One example is the Wikibooks logo on this page that hasn't at all been fixed for more than a year already. I should provide feedback, but I prefer to fix it myself. Thanks! --Hydriz (talk) 04:46, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Liangent

  • Projects where I'm involved: w:zh:User:Liangent, mw:User:Liangent
  • E-mail address: liangent at toolserver.org
  • Reason why I need an account: Someone told me that I should apply for an account for further technical maintenance work. --Liangent 15:45, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
While we love people who are willing to help out, requests for accounts to do unspecified "maintenance work" are typically not going to be approved. If there are specific projects upon which you wish to work, please let me know and we can re-evaluate. Thank you! Philippe (WMF) (talk) 13:03, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
Liangent is an active MediaWiki developer. You should be grateful he's offering to help with technical maintenance of the site. Please approve this request. --MZMcBride (talk) 20:23, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
