This page hosts requests for a username change. Please read the instructions before posting a request. Global username changes may also be requested here to be done by stewards and global renamers.

This is also the page where stewards can be requested to deal with problems relating to the unified login feature. These include:

  • Usurpation of accounts
  • Deletion of global accounts
Cross-wiki requests
Meta-Wiki requests

Before posting here[edit]

Please list specific projects that you need rename in under your request, unless you are requesting a completely global rename.

How to add an entry here[edit]

To add an entry, please copy and paste the text below into the appropriate section.

=== Oldname@xxproject ===
 |status     = <!--don't change this line-->
 |domain     = xx.project
 |Oldname    =
 |Newname    =
 |confirmation = [https:// diff-link to the local request on your local talk-page for example]<!--Local request link-->
 |reason     = (your remarks here)

For example:

=== Example@jawiki ===
 |status     = <!--don't change this line-->
 |domain     = ja.wikipedia
 |Oldname    = Example
 |Newname    = Foo
 |confirmation = []
 |reason     = (your remarks here)

For global rename requests:

=== Example@global ===
 |status     = <!--don't change this line-->
 |domain     = global
 |Oldname    = Example
 |Newname    = Foo
 |confirmation = []
 |reason     = <your remarks here>

Making a request for your own account[edit]

For changing your username on one wiki:

Please include the following information in your request:

  • the old username,
  • the new username,
  • the wiki project on which you ask for the renaming,
  • a link to the local (old) user page, where you put a formal request with your local account

If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information. Please don't skip the last point, even if there's no community on the project. This helps ensure that you are requesting a rename for your own account. Please check before posting your request that the username you want is available. You can test that by going to the (new) user page and looking into the sidebar. If there is a link to user contributions, the account already exists.

For changing your username on several wikis: If you want to have your username changed on several wikis at the same time, please put a list of these wikis on one of your user pages and make sure that there is a link back to this page from all of the other user pages. Alternatively you can post a short request separately with all the user accounts to be renamed. Please give here only the link to the user page with your list and replace the "@ project" in the headline by "on several projects" or the like. If you wish to be renamed on all wikis, and there is no existing local or global account at the new name, you can simply put "global", and you will be globally renamed.

Making a request for an account that is not yours[edit]

If you want to have an account renamed because its name is harrassing or insulting, or if it impersonates you or someone else, please include the following information in your request:

  • the account's name, including a translation into English, (if it's harrassing or insulting),
  • the wiki project on which you ask for the renaming,
  • the impersonated account (if the account is impersonating), this can be cross wiki.

If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Private requests[edit]

Requests that need to be made in private should be sent to stewards(at)

SUL account deletions[edit]

Please specify the account to be deleted, e.g. by linking to the Special:CentralAuth page for it, and the reason for it.

Please add new requests at the end of the page. Sections should be titled your username@project name or your username@multiple projects please.

Local renames are no longer possible by local users as per gerrit:160158. Thus, this is to be done by stewards. Vogone (talk) 15:30, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
Hi User:Chess. So you want your 123chess456 accounts on commons, simplewiki, simplewikt and wikidata to be renamed to "Chess"? --MF-W 15:50, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
Well, I've usurped on enwiki, so please change all of my accounts that you are able to to "Chess". I will have to make an usurp request on every individual wiki? Chess (talk) 20:03, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
There is not yet "global usurpation policy", so I guess you will have to request usurpation locally for now and the bureaucrats will have to ask Stewards to fulfill those local requests. –xeno 20:36, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
Per Xeno above, we can't start ignoring local usurpation guidelines, asking local bureaucrats for comment might indeed be the best solution, though we also have to keep in mind that this is atransitional period to SUL finalisation where all these accounts will be forcibly renamed. Done on - as a local bureaucrat - and on enwikibooks and enwiktionary per previous precedents. Savhñ 20:53, 15 September 2014 (UTC) And some more (kawikibooks, trwikibooks, trwikiquote, mediawikiwiki, jawiki) based on previous precedents. Savhñ 21:37, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
Two issues should be separated here: 1.) The renaming of the remaining 123chess456 accounts who have edits to the new name; 2.) The renaming ("usurpation") of the unattached Chess accounts.
In order to solve 1.), I have just done the following renames: (so please visit Special:MergeAccount)
Chess@commons->Chess (self-usurped)@commons
Chess@wikidata->Chess (self-usurped)@wikidata
The only remaining 123chess456'es with edits are on Meta and enwiki. That is obviously unsolvable at the moment, maybe you will want to request a merge when that function exists. --MF-W 21:04, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

"The old username is used" is not really a reason for a request for rename. It appears that you are indefinitely blocked on a couple different Wikis. Can you please be more specific about why you are wanting to be renamed? Tiptoety talk 20:11, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
Be conflicts. Example: Italian Wikipedia is created by me, but I could not access!
The name GseSro less common and like best. I think that the origin User:Baffo is English, and i did not know this. If you can change the name, thank you.--GseSro (talk) 20:38, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
That is probably an instance of bugzilla:39996. They can be renamed away. --MF-W 21:40, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
@Baffo: please identify how you would like to proceed, otherwise we will close this request as inactive.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:29, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
Hello, if possible to proceed! I want change name globally in GseSro: currently, I am only and these 10 days have little time to translate, for this reason I'm not writing about Meta, Wikiquote, etc. In addition my computer is broken! GseSro (talk) 16:54, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

I need to resolve an SUL conflict on some Wikis. I am now Ziko on en.WP, and I have the SUL account. Ziko (talk) 22:55, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

Except for where Ziko has 2 edits, I will usurp all local accounts. Please leave a note on the plwiki-Ziko's talk page so that they can choose a fresh username before we can usurp the account. If they don't respond for some weeks, please let us know so that we can complete your unified account. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:58, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
@Ziko: please would you confirm your progess.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:30, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

Canaan@multiple (usurp. requests)[edit]

Status:    On hold

Good morning. I am authorized by the owner of the global account Canaan to post this request on his behalf as per this. Global account owner User:Canaan@eswiki wishes to finalize the SUL, and therefore request that the following accounts on this projects be usurped:

Most of them have no edits, except a couple of them who have 2 edits at most. Thanks in advance for your help. On behalf of Canaan@global: — M 10:09, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Partially done; the zhwiki accounts have been used recently and might be the same person. I will attempt to make contact before usurping to let them choose another name. Ajraddatz (talk) 20:27, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
Many thanks :), I will inform Canaan about this. It would be great if those accounts could be usurped, but as you say, better to contact them first. Best regards, — M 15:18, 19 November 2014 (UTC) 15:18, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
Hi. Did you received a response from those two accounts? Thanks. -- M\A 19:17, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

Pdn@multiple (usurp. requests)[edit]

Status:    In progress

Hi... I'm an italian wikipedia user since 2005 .... I create in 2005 my italian account with the name Pdn (26,810 edit count)... now I would like to create an unified account.... but I have found two problem...:

  • I created also in 2005 an account in en.wikipedia... I used it only for a few time 9 years ago (1,098 edit count) to edit translated pages of italian pages that I created... the problem is that now I don't remember the password and the email address that I used to create the account... so I can't unify the en.wikipedia account... what can I do now?
  • the second problem is that the japanese account named Pdn (14 edit count) was created by someone in 2012 and used for just one week vandalizing some page so it was blocked by administrators... is it possible to usurpe this account?

Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for my bad english... --Pdn (talk) 17:55, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

The jawiki account will be usurped during SUL finalisation. Is it necessary to accelerate this process? Can you provide any (old) connection of Pdn@itwiki and Pdn@enwiki. I looked a while for it but couldn't find one easily. Maybe a sysadmin can help you in that case. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 18:22, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

I want to usurp the following accounts

1 edits (last editing 19 July 2005)

0 edits

0 edits

8 edits (last editing 3 March 2007)

19 edits (last editing 3 January 2009)

Thanks --Thomsen (talk) 16:04, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

Done all the ones with no or one edit. @Thomsen: please notify the other two accounts with a message asking them to pick a new username. If they don't respond in a month I'll usurp anyway. Thanks, Ajraddatz (talk) 22:42, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

@Fastily: I've renamed both of the bots with 0 edits. Please notify the enwiki and ruwiki accounts and give them the chance to pick a new name, though I understand how futile it may be. After a month if they have not responded then I'll usurp them anyway. Thanks, Ajraddatz (talk) 23:53, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
@Ajraddatz: you may proceed with the en request. The operator was blocked indefinitely and does not need to be notified. –xeno 16:39, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
I've usurped the enwiki account. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 16:42, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

Ulm@ruwiki (usurp. request)[edit]

With these many edits, I would wait for SUL finalisation when this account will be renamed anyway. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 15:49, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, waiting for 5 years already. :-( Will SUL finalisation ever become real? Thanks anyway. --ulm (talk) 15:55, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
mw:SUL finalisation looks pretty good to me. I expect it to start in December hopefully. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 16:00, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

I usurped the account on Commons with zero edits. For frwiki and ruwiki you will need notify the accounts on their talk pages and wait for answer for some time. Ruslik (talk) 11:00, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
And I've usurped the 0 edit accounts on eswiki and itwiki. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 11:17, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
Ok I'm on it for fr and ru! Thank you so much for the rest! --Herzeleid (talk) 13:20, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
I see no notifications on any of the de.wikiquote, ru.wikipedia or fr.wikipedia user talk pages. Do you still wish to proceed with these usurpations? Savhñ 16:37, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

On hold until the tool to merge SULs becomes available. Ajraddatz (talk) 17:55, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

Winne@multiple (usurp. requests)[edit]

Hello! I am the owner of the global account Winne. I wish to finalize the SUL, and therefore request that the following accounts on these projects be usurped:

If I understand correctly, none of them has edits. Thank you, -- 09:03, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Braveheart@multiple (usurp. requests)[edit]

Hi, I'm the owner of the SUL account Braveheart. I'd like to finalize my SUL account and usurp a few local accounts that don't belong to me. None of them have made edits in the local wiki if CentralAuth is to be believed. I'll take care of the de.wikiquote user at a later stage since it's not mine and there's a separate process for unlocking that user if IIRC.

Thanks! Braveheart (talk) 21:53, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

I've usurped all local accounts except for those with content edits (plwiki, scowiki, svwiki). Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:01, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks again! :-) Braveheart (talk) 22:02, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

Merging account is not yet possible. For that purpose, we would also need confirmations by both accounts. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:20, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Morgan Simonsen Morgands@global[edit]

 Not done. You must make your request using your own user account. Allan Aguilar (talk) 19:08, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

HG on several projects[edit]

Contacted on enwiki; on hold. Ajraddatz (talk) 22:50, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
Hi. I tried responding to Ajraddatz from my enwiki page. Sorry if that didn't work. The gist: if you think that "HCG" shouldn't be usurped, then I would choose HG1 for a rename. I've revised the request above with the new confirmation diff. Could you or somebody implement that SUL for me? Please ping me on enwiki and let me know. Thanks very much! HG (talk) 20:31, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
Hey, apologies; I did see your post but have been very busy. HG1 would be a better choice for a name. If nobody else gets to your request, I will action it later today. Sorry again, Ajraddatz (talk) 21:13, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
Hi, no problem. Busy is good. Cheers, HG (talk) 21:30, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
Question. Ajraddatz -- am I supposed to stay off of Wikis while the changes are put thru? Pardon my ignorance about what the Wizard is doing behind the screen :) HG (talk) 21:33, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
All done. There shouldn't have been any problem with you staying on-wiki during the process. Please visit en:Special:MergeAccount to create your global account - thanks for your patience! Ajraddatz (talk) 22:17, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks very much! As you may know, I got an unusual error in creating the global account, so I guess this helped out the wikitechnical team, too. Take care, HG1 (talk) 01:55, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Darkmaster2004@global (Usurp. request)[edit]

Given the obvious trollish nature of the account, I have renamed the impersonating user to make way for this rename. Snowolf How can I help? 03:42, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
Yes check.svg Done. Snowolf How can I help? 03:45, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

Pelikana@en.wikipedia (Usurp. request)[edit]

Uitgevoerd. Heb je een account op die eventueel bij je globaal account toegevoegd moet worden? Savhñ 13:34, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
Yes, user:Pepelikana on en.wp could be merged please, ty Pelikana (talk) 13:44, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
@Pelikana, can you provide an edit with the Pepelikana@enwiki account, so we can confirm you own that account? Savhñ 13:52, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
here you go and ty. Can i do a request for the separated here too? Pelikana (talk) 13:56, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

The account "Pndr" already exists. Please, choose another name. Ruslik (talk) 16:53, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
I would like to usurp this account as it does not have edits on any project. Is this no longer possible (as I have seen this done before), and if so, why not (and why is this not stated anywhere that I can find)? Theponderism (talk) 18:56, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
There are no set rules for global usurpations at this point, and most stewards/global renamers tend to go on the side of caution, since not everyone uses their account to edit. If you would like to usurp it, please leave the nowiki account a note asking if it would be OK with a different name, and wait for at least a month for a reply. Ajraddatz (talk) 22:19, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
Very well - please mark this request as "not done" at this time as I don't think it should be hanging around here for a month. Theponderism (talk) 22:23, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

Nоvа@global (usurp. request)[edit]

Considering the account Andre has contributed significantly, I don't think this usurpation is viable. There are millions of possible combinations, please choose an unused one should you not wish to keep your current nick. Savhñ 22:32, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
Ok. then Andre Shkrabak.--Nоvа (talk) 22:41, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
Done. Nоvа → Andre S. name change is now ready.–Ejs-80 09:15, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Comment: there have been problems with logins on other projects also (although the aforelinked Phapricator task was closed as "Resolved"). –Ejs-80 04:51, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
By the way, I was wondering why Global account information says that the global Obserwator account was registered in April 2013, while Obserwator@plwiki was created in January 2014 (and it is currently the only local account with that name). This rename explains that, since the account which was renamed – now Obserwator (przejęte) – was created in May 2006. That may also cause merging problems: the global account presumably still belongs to the user with the usurped plwiki account (Obserwator (przejęte)). –Ejs-80 05:24, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
I've deleted the global account. You can now use pl:Special:MergeAccount. Ajraddatz (talk) 06:47, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Done. The account Scrooge_McDuck has been renamed to GigioGigetto. Please let us know if there are accounts on other projects which you'd also liked renamed to GigioGigetto. We will require diffs from those accounts to confirm they are actually yours.
Remember to create a global account by accessing this special page. Cordially, Savhñ 14:23, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Done. Please access eo:Special:MergeAccount to merge that account into your SUL. Savhñ 21:17, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
