Clarifying goal[edit]

Hello KVaidla,

Should this category be merged with Category:2018-20 Wikimedia movement strategy process? If not, can you clarify the goal of this category, please? --Pols12 (talk) 23:11, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Pols12: thanks for raising this! We have indeed caused a bit of confusion in our naming conventions, apologies for that. The short answer to your question is that (probably) these should be kept as two different categories. Their purposes would be the following:
  1. Category:2018-20 Wikimedia movement strategy process: parent category of Phase II of the Strategy process, which started in 2018 and ended in June 2020.
  2. Category:Wikimedia 2030: parent category of the Wikimedia 2030 Strategy as a whole. It should has further sub-categories to reflect the different stages of the process: Phase I (2017), Phase II (2018-20), Transition (current) and Phase III (upcoming).
Most of the current pages in this category are about the Transition (current phase). I'll create a category for that and work on reorganizing the rest of the categorties to, hopefully, resolve the confusion --Abbad (talk) 12:30, 27 July 2020 (UTC) --Abbad (WMF) (talk) 12:35, 27 July 2020 (UTC).[reply]
