[edit]General Assembly Meeting – Dagbani Wikimedians User Group
[edit]The General Assembly meeting of the Dagbani Wikimedians User Group brought together volunteers and community leaders to review the group’s activities, discuss challenges, and develop strategies to strengthen Wikimedia language communities in Northern Ghana.
Objectives
[edit]The meeting aimed to:
Review the User Group’s activities and achievements
Strengthen collaboration among Mabia language communities
Identify strategic priorities for upcoming projects
Encourage community participation and leadership development
Participation
[edit]Participants included volunteers and leaders from several Wikimedia language communities, including:
- Dagbani
- Dagaare
- Gurene
- Kusaal
- Waali
The meeting provided an opportunity for contributors to exchange ideas, share experiences, and collaborate on strategies for promoting indigenous languages on Wikimedia platforms.
Key Discussions
[edit]During the meeting, participants discussed:
Community growth and participation Members reflected on the growth of Wikimedia communities in Northern Ghana and discussed ways to recruit and retain new contributors.
Capacity building
[edit]Participants emphasized the importance of training workshops and mentorship programs to build technical and leadership skills among volunteers.
Collaboration among language communities
[edit]The meeting highlighted the importance of cooperation among the Mabia language communities to strengthen collective impact.
Outcomes
[edit]The General Assembly resulted in several key outcomes:
Strengthened collaboration among participating language communities
Identification of strategic priorities for upcoming initiatives
Increased motivation among volunteers to contribute to Wikimedia projects
Conclusion
[edit]The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the Dagbani Wikimedians User Group to expanding access to knowledge in indigenous languages and strengthening Wikimedia communities across Northern Ghana.
