In the October 2024-March 2025 term, our major challenge revolves around advocacy and capacity development. This is pivotal in navigating our long-term vision to address representation gaps in global Muslim academia, scholarship, history, and culture within Wikimedia projects.
We have implemented several initiatives, such as organizing a monthly open conversation hour, to support the strategic development of our organization and assist emerging affiliates in establishing their foundations. Moreover, we have initiated collaborative projects like "Deoband Yoruba Collaborative Project" and "DCW-K Editathon", to sustain our goals. Our contributions also extend to supporting the future growth and development of Wiki Club Jamia , Wiki Club AMU, and Wiki Club Deoband
Our Heritage Lens initiative aims to facilitate the documentation of Muslim heritage on Wikimedia Commons, placing a strong emphasis on training our members in copyright and other ethical considerations. Looking ahead to the October 2024-March 2025 term, we are gearing up for around twelve offline and in-person training sessions focused on capacity development at our Wiki Clubs. These sessions will drive our organizational growth, support the establishment of new clubs, and foster the development of well-established Wikimedians. Additionally, we also look forward to offering online training sessions on a monthly basis.

The target participants are students and academicians from Muslim minority institutions such as Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University, and madrasas such as Darul Uloom Deoband. This notably includes the volunteers at Wiki Club Jamia, Wiki Club AMU and the Wiki Club Deoband which we helped establish in our previous programs. Our agenda involves helping these Wiki Clubs sustain and actively involving students in a range of free knowledge activities.
We plan on engaging the participants through our monthly conversation hours, productive activities such as training workshops and edit-a-thons. Maintaining follow up communication using our our mailing list, while also fostering a sense of community through platforms such as Telegram groups. DCW effectively utilizes social media to stay connected with its members, consistently reaching out to attract new individuals into our community. Mehfil-e-Wiki is one of our incubated ideas that we look forward to using as a regular engagement forum at Wiki Club Jamia, and later at other clubs.
We firmly believe that appreciation is the key to nurturing a thriving and expanding community. We value and cherish our community, recognizing the incredible dedication of our volunteers.
