The idea of this project is to be able to preserve our musical culture. In Hausa community we have musicians dating back to early 19's but you rarely or in some cases find any of these music in Wiki Commons. Wikimedia serve as a means to preserve, use and utilize knowledge. Music is part of way of life of people. So we are taking these advantage to preserve some of our music date back. This is because some of them are perishing due to lack of proper documentation

Also this project will pave way for other editors to be able to contribute towards the music aspect in our community and culture.

This project will also undergoes a research in other to find out the number of Hausa music content that are already in the Public domain and are having free license in other for them to be used in the Wiki Commons.

We planned to carry out 3 activities.

1. Online event to create awareness and to bring the attention of the community towards contributing in the musical aspect of our culture and also to enlightened on the issue of licensing in other for the community members to be able to know exactly what to upload.
2. An inperson research workshop to be able to gather the music to be upload and also to be able to list down the number of Hausa music that are in the public domain or are having free license to be used in the Wiki Commons.
3. And in person event to be able to upload those music and serve as a means of preserving them and also means of utilizing the music knowledge in the community. As this project is one of its kind.

2. We will engage participants via WhatsApp as it's the means of effective communication in the community. We already have a WhatsApp group where we already discussed this idea with the team and members of the community

1. We have an organised WhatsApp group already, firstly I discussed it personally with the team. Then from there I extended it to the general WhatsApp group where the whole community were duly informed.
