Northeastern region of Nigeria is the most underrepresented region in the country in terms of content-gap as well as volunteers despite the fact that there are more than enough creative individuals to represent the area within the Wikimedia movement but absence of engagement and lack of proper outreach lead to the occuring situation. Being the first and only existing/active community with Wikimedia missions based in the region, we had the opportunity to take part in the Wiki Loves Africa 2023 campaign where a number of individuals were recruited, trained and engaged in this international campaign. During that period we got the chance to contribute over 500 images from which over 30% were used across various language versions of Wikipedia and Wikidata. However, there's still a lot to cover in the region since that was just the first attempt in history. Our participation this year which will also be our second time organizing the Wiki Loves Africa event, will help us in retaining the previous year recruits and also in having more than enough chance in bringing more volunteers. It would also strengthen our community as we clearly understand that our previous year's participation in Wiki Loves Africa has helped make our community members feel welcomed in the movement and that motivated them a lot. Therefore, we seek to run/organize WLA 2024 in order to continue on the path we have taking and work we started in filling out the existing content gap related to the least represented region of northeastern Nigeria as well as to keep motivating and retaining our community members by boosting their morales.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

Following are the major approaches/strategies we will be implementing while carrying out this event:

Workshop: we will introduce our community members to the Wiki Loves Africa contest and train them on how to contribute/participate and also invite professional photographers in the region and introduce them to Wikimedia projects and give them room to participate in the contest. Photo hunts: we will embark on a photo walks taking and gathering random pictures of about 200-300 different unrepeated, quality images related to the 2024 theme of WLA: Africa Create. Training sessions: another training will be held before the participants start uploading the media files to ensure accuracy and meeting of the requirements and to avoid having many problems with the uploaded files. Upload sessions: most experience editors from the community will lead and guide the rest of the participants especially the newly recruited ones during the upload sessions. Tracking Tools: we will use outreach dashboard, Wikiloves, Ptools and hashtag tools to track participants' contributions and also provide one on one support for them. Prizes: we will consider giving out prizes at the local level to the top 5 contributors as incentives to motivate them at the end of the contest.
