Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. What is your promotion plan?
You can do a campaign involving billboards or rickshaw announcements to promote a Wikimedia projects, such as Santali Wikipedia, at different places in a city. You can promote an online campaign such as Wiki Loves Monuments on Facebook, Twitter, etc using ads. You can also create gifs/slideshows or other easy to make multimedia files and use them to promote your project on social media.

This project will be translation of CANCER related articles to hausa Language by

Wikimedia editors. Once these articles are translated they will be promoted on social media I.e WhatsApp and Facebook to increase readership and recruit new editors, to hausa Wikipedia.

This project will also hold a zoom conference to educate participants and encourage editing Wikipedia and it's pages readership.

This project will use these articles during the campaign.

Cancer [1]

Breast Cancer [2]

Lung Cancer [3]
2. How will you let your community know about the promotion campaign?
Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.

Through Hausa Wikipedia community portal and also through our existing social media platforms.

3.Do you have any experience in promoting Wikimedia projects either online or offline?
Were you involved in a similar project in the past? Do you have any other experience related to online/offline promotion?

Yes I was one of the major facilitator's in online Hausa Wikipedia awareness in Kaduna and also I participated in offline Hausa Wikipedia awareness in Kaduna metropolis.

I played a vital role in the success of both the 2 project. And many other project carried out in Kaduna, Zaria And katsina

I carried an Online awareness and promotion on Covid 19 myself.

4. What is your post-promotion plan?
What do you plan to do after your campaign ends?

I will also want to keep the audience engaged in Wikimedia movement.

5. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

No

6. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

Wikipedia serve as reliable and trusted source of information in our community. Anything from Wikipedia is considered genuine and truth.

Also this project was motivated because of the Goodwill messages I received on social media about the recent campaign we did on Covid 19. Our community really appreciate the project and give alot of thanks to Wikimedia Foundation.

One woman text me and I quote "I never thought there's any website or platform with this rich information, covering a topic cover to cover and leaving no angle behind. And the most amazing thing is you find information in native language. That's so wonderful, thanks to them and you". That's according to her words. So from the response of the community it really helps them and they seek for something more, something from a different topic to be educated.

This project will help in educating the entire Hausa community and also it will enhance readership.

Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets and feel free to add more:

4.Recruit new editors. 5 new editors

Resources[edit]

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

I will be working with 10 Wikimedia editors from Hausa Community in this project.
  • Here is the name of the 10 facilitators

Aliyu Shaba, Uncle Bash77, Sanusi gado, Anasskoko, Alameen Khaleed200, Hajara Sanusi, Khadija Umar, Abdulkareem Aliyu Yusuf, Sadauki11, Ibraheem8880. They are all Wikipedia editors.

.I will also be working with 5 social media influencers inside and outside the Wikimedia Community. Whom I hope to engage them in the Wikimedia movement.

I will also be working with 2 professional medical doctors. And a Nurse.

1. Doctor Hamza Umar Gado.

2. Doctor Safiyya Musa.

3. Nurse Rahmatu

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense and include a total amount.

1. Data and Internet Support 500 USD. This is for organisers, and 10 facilitator's. Within the 2 weeks of the campaign.

2. Communication 300 USD.

  • This includes, the airtime voucher for communication and also transportation to meet the doctors in person and the social media influencers.

3. Social media promotion 400 USD. This is for the promotion of the content and video in social media platforms. I.e Facebook, and WhatsApp.

  • As I said earlier we are not paying Facebook or Whatsapp for the ads. What we do with the money is give data support to our promoters, promoter's here are Wikipedia editors that show interest in the campaign and request for data support, social media influencers that are on wiki only, that request for data support.

And how we do the promotion is, we do it ourselves, that's why it requires alot of people during the campaign. To reach larger audience. We make the post ourselves, we use our handles and also the pages we have and we also use the handles of those social media influencers. That's how we do the promotion, for a wider coverage. I hope this explanation answers this question.

4. Graphic designs 300 USD. This for at least 10 graphics images that will also be used to draw people attention during the campaign.

  • Before we intend to do the campaign for a week this is because of the work of the video production, since now we cut the video production. We extend the campaign to 2 weeks and I think we need 10 graphic designs for the 14 days of the campaign.

5. Contingency 200 USD

6. Alternative power supply 400 USD. This is because of the power shortage and power failure in Nigeria. And this project is solemly online. We need power alternative for the 2 weeks of the campaign.

7. Gift card i.e for promoter's 300 USD. This is an appreciation design certificate to be shared to all promoters. At the end of the campaign.

  • This is a certificate of appreciation for the facilitators and other Wikipedia editors that participate in the campaign only. And the social media influencers that are on wiki. Like user TheMajidi or ZaynAfrica.

9. Zoom Meeting Data Support for organiser, participants and facilitator's. 500 USD

Total 2900 USD
