Project Plan[edit]

Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

I am the facilitator in Mali of the #WikiChallenge Ecoles d'Afrique, a writing contest on vikidia organized in 70 schools in 4 African countries in January and February 2019 (and was its facilitator in Oct-Nov 2017 as well). It so happen that the work done in the wiki sphere in the schools will happen at the same time than Wiki Loves Africa. So far, no local team has ever promoted the Wiki Loves Africa photo contest in Mali. I propose to do so and promote the contest toward the contest in two target populations : toward the schools and more generally the educational sector, and toward young professional and semi-amator photographers.

I will

  • communicate about the contest in various venues and within my networks
  • launch ceremony (January)
  • facilitate the participation of schools kids and personnel to the contest
  • organize a winning ceremony with local prizes for schools and for photographers
  • organise a exhibition of winning photos or photo-essays

1. What content will the contest focus on, and why is it important to your community?

Contest will focus on photography, with the theme "Play"

2. How will you let people know about the contest?

launching ceremony with media press. Own network.

3. How will you judge the contest and award prizes?

I will contact seasoned photographers whom I am already connected to be on the judging panel

Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets and feel free to add more:

  1. Number of photos from Mali uploaded to Wikimedia Commons
  2. Number of photos used on Wikimedia projects
  3. Media mentions
  4. Stories

  • Anthere (talk). I would suggest the the closing date at March 30th might be a bit optimistic given that you plan to have a winning ceremony. I would recommend adding an additional month...
