Projector and Camera Lenses Purchase for Wikimedia UG Georgia
In the last two years, Wikimedia UG Georgia has been actively holding various contests, conferences, meetings and WikiCamps, during which we used different technical devices, but unfortunately we don't have our own devices and we have to ask them from third parties. At the moment, we only have a camera that we actively use (with the help of it, more than 500 photos were taken). For trouble-free work, and as our experience showed us during Bakuriani WikiCamp, we currently need a projector and lenses for the camera. During the last project we borrowed them from friends.

Project Goal[edit]

Choose one or more of the following goals. You can add or delete goals as needed. You can add details to each goal. For example, if you want to add content on a specific subject.

  1. Recruit new editors
  2. Enrich Commons photos
  3. Organize wiki-meetings, wiki-lectures, wiki-lessons, WikiCamps and conferences.
  4. Popularization Wikimedia projects in Georgia.

Project Plan[edit]

Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. What content gaps will you be filling with the equipment?

In recent years, Wikimedia UG Georgia has been actively pursuing various events to popularize Wikimedia projects in Georgia. During events such as conferences, WikiCamps, wiki-meetings, wiki-lectures, wiki-lessons and conferences, we need technical devices such as a projector, which we don't have. During the last event, which became Bakuriani WikiCamp, we lent a projector from our friends. This is certainly inconvenient and risky, but we have no other way out of the situation. So, we ask this grant from WMF in order to purchase a projector and its accessories for our organization for work without any problem. We also ask WMF fund to purchase new lenses for our camera in order to increase the number of high-quality photos, which will increase the number of freely licensed photos on the commons.

2. What activities will you organize in the next 6 months to create content and use it on Wikimedia projects?

In the next 6 months we are going to arrange at least one WikiCamp for beginners, we will also conduct wiki-trainings for various organizations on work in Wikimedia projects. At the end of this year, traditionally we are going to arrange Georgian WikiConference. At these events will be used all the technical devices that will be available to our organization.

3. How will the equipment be shared/tracked/cared for by members of your community?

Projector will be cared by Mehman97. Projector will be used for current activities and events. If necessary, equipment will be passed to other users for organizing events. A request for receiving devices should be made here.

4. How long will the equipment be used, and by whom?

We expect the projector & camera equipment will be used for at least the next 5 years by members of the user group.

5. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

Receiving this grant is very important to us.

Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets and feel free to add more:

  1. Number of photos uploaded: approximately 200 over the next 6 months
  2. Number of photos used on Wikimedia projects: ~ 20-30
  3. Number of articles created/improved: ~ 10-20

Resources[edit]

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

Our user group has a camera, and now we need lenses. We don't have a projector and with this grant we want to buy it. Our user group member Mehman97 will order the equipment, store the camera when not in use, monitor the tracking log, and coordinate sharing among group members. We have no other source of funding.

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense and include a total amount.
