Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. What content will the contest focus on, and why is it important to your community?

The contest will focus on articles & photos. This content is important, as most articles in en:Category:Protected areas of Belarus lack illustrations, including in both Belarusian Wikipedias (be-tarask:Катэгорыя:Ахоўныя прыродныя тэрыторыі Беларусі). There are also no articles about most nature reserves (be-tarask:Заказьнікі Беларусі#Рэспубліканскія) & natural monuments in Belarus (be-tarask:Помнікі прыроды Беларусі#Рэспубліканскія).

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I informed the Belarusian community on the forum pages of both Belarusain Wikipedias (be-tarask:Вікіпэдыя:Форум#Вікі любіць Зямлю-2021 & be:Вікіпедыя:Форум#Вікі любіць Зямлю-2021). I also used such external social media channels, as Facebook, Telegram & VK. In May, I created posts about the contest on the pages of Belarusian Wikipedia in Facebook, Twitter, VK & the channel in Telegram.

3. How will you let participants know about the contest? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

In May, I invited every active user in both Belarusian Wikipedias personally on their talk pages to participate in the contest (be-tarask:Спэцыяльныя:ActiveUsers & be:Адмысловае:ActiveUsers). I will also use the the messaging app & social media channels, mentioned above, including local groups, devoted to photography. A press release was provided to the local news outlets on May 25th (be-tarask:Вікіпэдыя:Прэс-рэлізы/ВЛЗ-2021). Central Notice banner will also help.

4. How will you judge the contest and award prizes?
Note: Grantees, judges, and other contest leaders are ineligible to receive prizes. Grantees who are serving as judges may not receive gifts through grant funding.

Experienced wikimedians will use Montage jury tool to judge photos. We will try to include more members to the jury in case of an overwhelming number of photos. The prizes will be awarded to the top three scorers in both creating the largest number of articles & uploading photos.

5. For photo contests, what is the strategy to get images used on projects?

Holding the simultanious writing contest in June-July (be-tarask:Вікіпэдыя:Праект:Вікі любіць Зямлю-2021) with awards will get more images used in created articles.

6. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

The project will go on even if not funded, as we look ahead to providing 10 winning pictures from Belarus at the international contest. We have done a successful WLE contest in 2020.

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets and feel free to add more:

For photo contests:

  1. 20 participants
  2. 300 photos uploaded to Wikimedia Commons
  3. 80 photos used on Wikimedia projects

For writing contests:

  1. 8 participants
  2. 60 articles created or improved
