Project Plan[edit]

Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. What content will the contest focus on, and why is it important to your community?

The contest will focus on utilising the media files (photos and videos) from Wiki Loves Folklore international photography contest to Wikipedia articles in relevant topics. This is important to ensure that the images that are brought in via the contest are used in the Wikipedia to illustrate the local folklore articles that are missing media files, including, but not limited to the category Folk Culture at English Wikipedia.

2. How will you let people know about the contest?

We already have a network of social media channels on telegram, messenger and Facebook where the community has been connected with our core project Wiki Loves Love. We will use that to announce the next phase of the project. Additionally, we will be reaching out to local coordinators of the Wiki Loves Folklore Wikipedia Edition 2020 that was organized in over 18+ languages this year.

3. How will you judge the contest and award prizes?

We will have local co-ordinators and jury that will be judging the contest and international team that will be reviewing the work on the dashboard with hashtag. The way of calculating the stats and results will be similar to #1Lib1Ref campaign that uses hashtags in summaries to calculate the references integrated in the campaign.

4. For photo contests, what is the strategy to get images used on projects?

This contest will ensure that the relevant media files are used in articles of different Wikipedia language editions and to support this process, we will collaborate with local language coordinators to run the program in different languages. This will be helpful in usage of images in articles relevant to a particular country/culture in their native language.

5. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This will be a completely online project and no offline events will take place under this campaign.

Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets and feel free to add more:

For photo contests:

  1. Number of participants 40
  2. Number of photos integrated from Wikimedia Commons 500
  3. Number of Wikipedia/Wikidata pages or items improved with photos 200
