Frederiksgave Plantation & Common Heritage Site Frederiksgave is one of the Danish plantations at the foothills of Ghana's Akuapem Range where West Africans were enslaved to cultivate crops, starting in 1831.

Remains of slave and Danish settlements were left behind, recently excavated and some structures reconstructed.

There's also a museum on the site.

Free photos of Frederiksgave are not on Commons.

Nzulezu stilt village Nzulezo/Nzulezu a village built on stilts over a lake.

The residents live on the water and is a popular tourist destination but very few quality images exist for the village and what's available does not the capture the diversity of the sceneries there.

Tamale The team capturing the north of Ghana are all based in Accra.

Tamale will therefore be used as the base location where the team will lodge and return to after each photowalk.

  • Babatu’s grave
  • German cemetery
  • Naa Dataa Tua
  • Babatu was a notorious slave raider from Niger. There are remains of his grave and some equipment he and his army used in capturing slaves on Grunsi land
  • German cemetery popularly called "German grave” contains graves of German and Dutch soldiers who died in their colonization efforts in a war with Dagombas.
  • Na Dataa Tua is a site is a place where men who had affairs with the Ya-Na’s wives were beheaded. At the site are a sacrificial stone and a baobab tree, at the base of which the victims were beheaded.

  • Dakpema tomb
  • The oldest mosque in the Capital of the northern region.
  • The ancient cave where mortal remains of Dakpemas (kings of Tamale kingdom) are kept.

Larabanga Mystery Stone Larabanga Mystery Stone during the British colonial times, there was a road that was laid near the Larabanga Mosque.

A stone was removed during the process to make way for the road. The next day, the stone returned to the same place it was displaced from.
