Proposing this for next round instead?[edit]

Hi, Yug! I saw that both the Visual and Audio Dictionary proposals were drafted towards the end of September. Looks like just the Visual had status updated to proposed though. Just wanted to confirm with you that it wasn't an error to leave this one as draft. Is your plan to continue developing it for a future round? Cheers, Siko (WMF) (talk) 20:45, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Siko, I'am on it.
<long answer:> The project is still in design stage due to last minute withdrawal from a key partner providing sentences. Facing the very day to indeed release his data, he eventually hang on the CC-by-sa-nc option (he wanted to grant the WMF usage, but not external companies), which we cannot accept. I will see what redesign is possible within a week. Words recording/audios are important and would provide a comparative advantage compare to current WM usages, but not as much as the former wish of words + sentences. Comparative advantages over automatic text-to-speech systems, which start to have acceptable output as of 2014, is to consider. See Hindi and Indonesian, which are not smooth and good for language learning, but still quite impressive for computer generated signals. I now got to evaluate this context within days. Let's keep this proposal as [draft] for now. Yug (talk) 22:14, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for confirming, Yug. The time for proposing in this round has now past, so you've got several months to sort out further issues - happy to see it come in again in the spring :) Best of luck, meanwhile! Siko (WMF) (talk) 20:44, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Status update[edit]

Hi, Yug! Thanks once again for starting this draft proposal last year.

I just wanted to give you a heads up that I'm going to mark your proposal as 'withdrawn' because we've launched a new open call for IEG proposals for 2015 and I want to make sure that community reviewers don't mistake this idea as a current submission.

Of course, you are welcome to submit it as a new idea in the current round! If you need help developing your idea, we have Hangouts scheduled for the next few weeks (more information here).

Warm regards, --Marti (WMF) (talk) 19:13, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
