Lessons

[edit]

Marhaban! =)P

How would you say this proposal incorporates the lessons learned from your previous one?

Hugs,

--Solstag (talk) 03:19, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Marhaban :) Thank you for your question. We believe that the former experience was a good chance for us to learn how to run this contest better. By example, we tried to use site banner to advertise about this contest, although that brought high number of registration but only few of them were committed to their goals. So we switched the invitation method to personal messages to potential new editors which resulted in higher quality registrations. In short, after four rounds of this contest, we consider ourselves better at managing it and driving the best results out of it. Thanks. --Ciphers (talk) 18:32, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Measures of success

[edit]

Thanks for the submission. It seems like you had a pretty big success when carrying on the project last year, which can be evidenced from the numerical figures you state in your report. My suggestion is that it would be more useful and efficient to use these numbers and items as a starting point to introduce the new measures of success for the ongoing year. You can simply manage it by using thresholds on the minimum number of participants, the minimum number of articles created, or the minimum number of featured articles on the Arabic Wikipedia. Best regards.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 09:44, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I revised the measure of success section. Thank you! --Ciphers (talk) 18:52, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Even though the above would be nice, and a big challenge. I have no other comments on this.--3BRBS (talk) 15:04, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Awards

[edit]

Dear Ciphers, thank you for your grant application. I have a few questions about awards. Do you plan to give money as award or you prefer to buy equipment in the value of 500/250/100/50 U.S. dollar? I am also interested to read a little more bit about how will you make a decision about who will be the winners? -- MikyM (talk) 19:03, 21 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Miky. Thank you for your questions.
The priority is given to transfer the monetary reward using paypal to winners. We have experienced a few cases where Paypal was restricted by the location of the winner, in this case we offered the winner an alternative option to choose an item or several items from an online store, and these items were bought and delivered to the winners address.
The decision on the winners is made by a judge panel which consists of senior members from the ArWp community who are not participating in the contest itself. Each judge examines all contributions, and nominates a top three participants. The final result is then made by aggregating these nominations using a unified point system. Usernames of the judge panels are kept in confidence in order to avoid any potential conflicts.
Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks. --Ciphers (talk) 18:22, 23 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
