Grants talk:TPS/Dhanalakshmi .K. T/4CCON

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Request funded[edit]

Dear Dhanalakshmi .K. T,

Thank you for submitting this request. The Participation Support Committee is glad to fund your participation in 4CCON, though we would like you to further refine your goals in advance of this event, focusing on the value you intend for your participation to add to the Wikimedia movement (versus the value your participation will bring to you as an individual). Thus far, you have only stated that "Participants will also benefit by listening to my talk." Please say more about what your goals are in this respect. What specific key ideas are you aiming for them to take away from your talk? How do you plan to follow up in the wake of your talk? Will you collect email addresses and follow up? Will you create a Facebook page? What materials do you want to distribute to make sure that participants have clear pathways to get involved further? As much as possible, we'd like to set impact goals in advance and plan accordingly to maximize your chances of meeting your goals. Once you have done so, please update your proposal page, filling in further details. Again this should be done before the event.

That said, I am approving funding now to allow time for travel arrangements.

In addition, please review the next steps for your grant as described in "How the program works". Your post-event report must provide a link to an outcome from your participation. We recommend that you start planning your outcome now so you are prepared to submit it as part of your report, which is due 14 days after the event. You may wish to review this report, as well as the additional comments on the talkpage, so you can get an idea of what we are (and are not) looking for.

Note that an outcome does not include the materials you prepare to present at the event (though we’d like you to link to those, too), but something that is created during or after the event because of your participation, such as a link to something new that was co-created by you and your fellow participants at the event, a blog post you wrote to share your experience with others after the event, or a learning pattern to teach others something you've learned at the event. If you choose to make a learning pattern, think creatively about what you learned. Did you address a target audience about whom you have special expertise (for example, a physicist presenting at a conference for physicists about how to use Wikipedia)? Your learning pattern might focus on a strategy you employed that was successful in engaging that specific audience in our projects.

Our Grants Administrator will be in touch with you about your grant. Thank you for work on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation.

Thank you very much for considering my request. Since I am going to Native place for this weekend where there is no connectivity, I will send the detailed information by Monday. --Dhanalakshmi .K. T (talk) 02:47, 20 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your valuable feedback and suggestions. They are really useful to me. Regarding the usefulness and taking the outcome forward I have already chalked up some activities. I have already created a Facebook page titled "Karavali Wiki Women". The aim of this group is to supplement the Karavali Wiki Women page on Meta. I will be announcing this Facebook page during my presentation. I will also collect the contact details of like minded people from the audience and interact with them after the event. I will also request people in the audience to provide me with examples of similar activities if any by them. --Dhanalakshmi .K. T (talk) 06:46, 26 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
