I'm glad to say that recently Wikimedians in Thailand has been a very active user group, considerably among the most active user groups worldwide. The events/contests organised in the last three years have been very successful in terms of number of individuals involved and the impact made to the society. We have gained several local partners, and we are now more visible than ever. We wouldn't be where we are without all of you. As we continue to grow, I believe there's something we can do to accommodate the needs of our growing circle, to pursue our aspiration, the passion for free knowledge. On behalf of the user group, I would like to invite everyone to come and define our future directions, and discuss together the possibility of our user group to become a Wikimedia chapter.
ในเวลาสองสามปีที่ผ่านมา กลุ่มอาสาสมัครในประเทศไทยได้มีความเคลื่อนไหวจัดกิจกรรมอย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยได้รับการยอมรับจากมูลนิธิวิกิมีเดียอย่างเป็นทางการให้จัดตั้งเป็นกลุ่มอาสาสมัครวิกิมีเดียในประเทศไทยและได้รับทุนสนับสนุนในการจัดกิจกรรมต่างๆ อย่างต่อเนื่อง เช่น การประกวดภาพถ่ายและการประกวดบทความ ซึ่งถือว่าบรรลุผลสำเร็จในระดับที่เกินความคาดหวัง
ในปัจจุบันกลุ่มอาสาสมัครวิกิมีเดียในประเทศไทยถือเป็นกลุ่มอาสาสมัครที่มีความเคลื่อนไหวและโดดเด่นอยู่ในระดับต้นของกลุ่มอาสาสมัครวิกิมีเดียจากทั่วโลก ผมเล็งเห็นว่าปัจจุบันกลุ่มอาสาสมัครของเรามีความเหมาะสมและมีความเป็นไปได้สูงที่จะแปรสภาพเป็นสมาคมพันธมิตรของมูลนิธิวิกิมีเดีย (chapter) ได้ในอนาคตอันใกล้นี้ การพัฒนาตัวเองจากเป็นสมาคมพันธมิตรจะส่งผลให้องค์กรเรามีส่วนร่วมในชุมชนสากลในการสร้างแหล่งความรู้ที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในโลกในทุกภาษา รวมทั้งได้รับการสนับสนุนที่เพียงพอเพื่อจัดกิจรรมเผยแพร่ความรู้ไปเผยแพร่ให้กับสังคมไทยได้มากขึ้น
เพื่อให้สอดคล้องกับข้อกำหนดของมูลนิธิวิกิมีเดีย เราจำเป็นต้องบรรลุเป้าหมายดังต่อไปนี้
- มีสมาชิกที่มีความเคลื่อนไหวต่อเนื่องอย่างน้อย 20-25 ราย
- จดทะเบียนในประเทศมีสถานะเป็นนิติบุคคล (ควรจะจดทะเบียนเป็นสมาคมมากกว่ามูลนิธิ)
ดังนั้น ผมขอเป็นตัวแทนเชิญทุกท่าน มาร่วมปรึกษาหารือแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็น เพื่อกำหนดทิศทางของกลุ่มอาสาสมัครวิกิมีเดียในประเทศไทยและร่วมกันบรรลุพันธะที่ท้าทายยิ่งขึ้นสำหรับกลุ่มอาสาสมัครฯ ต่อไป ตามวัน เวลาและสถานที่ดังต่อไปนี้

- th:ผู้ใช้:Artit.taw - in Thai version, we discovered a number of glitches.
Fixed. [1] Change of Thai Wikipedia to English Wikipedia at end of mission 6.- Unable to create user talk:Artit.taw/TWA/Earth at some stage. It has to be manually created [2]. We suspect that Guidedtour-tour-twa3.js at //1 failed for unknown reason for this instant only. Two people have tried to reproduced the error but did not see it.
- What should be our priority for the Thai reader? The Wiki Game vs TWA
- Pilarbini introduced the The Wiki Game.
- We agree that WP:TWA in Thai in its current form may be difficult to maintain and we may need to focus on a different material for the Thai reader. For example, we should develop the wiki game in Thai language using extension "GuidedTour" on mediaWiki.
- The earlier agreement was that TWA will be used for AsianMonth. We are happy with TWA in English but we may need more volunteers to test/develop TWA in Thai to keep up with the change in Wikipedia.
- Proposal for future activities
- Let public/private organisations request printed WLE/WLM photos from us for decorative use in a public space. If we get a lot of view from QRCode on the photo, we can send them t-shirt (or follow-up souvenir). QR code should like to WLM/WLE campaign or article relating to the photo.
- QRPedia is also mention as an alternative channel of article competition.
- Catering for next meeting: A combination of local food for confirmed participant + Fried chicken delivery for new participants.
- Time for next meeting: Try weekday to attract current student.
