Ventrixs[edit]

Not ending before 23 October 2020 14:33 (UTC)

Hello there! I am submitting a request for translation adminship due to my extreme interest in the role and in using my language knowledge here on Wikipedia a little bit more. I would like to use this role to facilitate more translation work on Meta in Mandarin and Cantonese. This role would help me get started in my cross-wiki work between MW, en, and zh wikis! I know I don't have much work done on Meta-Wiki, but this role would help me get started a lot. I have studied closely all the related documentation to the translation administrator role. Thank you all very much, and I hope to answer any questions you may have relating my qualification for this privilege! --Ventrixs (talk) 14:33, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose Oppose Sorry, but if the intent is to help with translation work you can translate pages, which doesn't require translation adminship. Creating this request was your 7th edit on meta, the other 6 being a request for 2FA tester permissions, reverting that request, and 4 edits to your user page. Translation admin also wouldn't help with "cross-wiki work", though I'll note that outside of meta and the creation of a user page at w:zh-yue:User:Ventrixs, all of your edits have been on enwiki, which doesn't suggest a pattern of cross-wiki activity. --DannyS712 (talk) 15:39, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
DannyS712, your arguments are completely valid and I understand, but I have been actively trying to begin some cross-wiki work, and translation isn't entirely my goal! I am looking to get more into the administration sector of Wikipedia and translation is a passion. I'm trying to combine the two and I personally think I am qualified. As I previously stated, I know my cross-wiki work is not large at all, comprising of only what you have said, but I am very adament in trying to improve this, and my work here on MetaWiki as a translation admin would give me a good start. I see no reason for what would keep me from being a translation admin, and only what room I would have to grow on MetaWiki with this position. Ventrixs (talk) 18:21, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Ventrixs: I would say that, while understandable, this request is not the best way to get started on a path of achieving your goals. –MJLTalk 00:56, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@MJL, I believe that translation administrator permission is the best way for me to be introduced into different work here on WM projects. I see how I don't look like the greatest candidate, but I also believe that I have room to prove myself should I be given the chance. Ventrixs (talk) 16:23, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose Oppose 102 edits (global) in 2 Years Quote: "to prove myself " This also works with the use of write access.--𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 👤💬 14:15, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiBayer:, before recently, this account was my legitimate alternate account of StarlightStratosphere. After a wikibreak, I returned and began using this account as my main to seperate old edits from my new ones. I am not new to Wikipedia, I just was active before and active now. Also, I feel my edit count already proves I am dedicated to Wikipedia, and my simple preference to be involved in administration and vandalism fighting in contrast to frontline knowledge and research. In addition, when I say 'to prove myself', I mean generally as becoming involved in WM administration, not as a translator. Ventrixs (talk) 15:29, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Posting this here to inform that I (Ventrixs) have undergone a username change to Vivianne Dawn, although it's already quite apparent that this request is highly opposed. Thanks! Vivianne Dawn (talk) 17:34, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No consensus to promote. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 10:47, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
