This page enables stewards to handle permissions requests, including the giving and taking of administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights, for all Wikimedia wikis which do not have a local permissions procedure. 'If your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (see the index of request pages). Requests for bot status, URL blacklisting and whitelisting, and CheckUser queries belong elsewhere.

For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewards IRC channel (see a web-based IRC client). In emergencies only, type !steward in the channel to inform stewards that you need help.

Please only make requests here after gaining the approval of your local community.

When requesting permissions, copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Please fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the local request, and link to your local user page. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

Belorussian Normative Wikipedia

Hi! Belorussian Normative Wikipedia has recently opened and need an admin for proper work of the wiki. The local community, which had worked in the Incubator, already have made elections and proposed three members for admins: elections. They are:be:User:Yury Tarasievich, be:User:Yaroslav Zolotaryov, be:User:Mienski. We need at least one admin as soon as possible, because the Wiki is big and can not work properly without any adminship --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 12:14, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Opposition to this wiki already has began vandal actions in the wiki, so we need any admin urgently. --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 12:32, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For what I can read in be:Вікіпэдыя:Суполка, elections begun today. It's common practice to allow at least 7 days for voting. --Paginazero - Ø 14:34, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All three made temporary sysops until they are (eventually) elected. If some of them doesn't get elected, the status will be removed in a week. Jon Harald Søby 14:49, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I request sysop access on Belorussian wikipedia for be:User:Yury Tarasievich, be:User:Yaroslav Zolotaryov, be:User:Mienski, be:User:MaximLitvin. They were elected by local community after a week of discussion and voting: [1]

--Yaroslav Zolotaryov 09:46, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: note the amount of votes discarded by... Yaroslav Zolotaryov. On his own RFA... Among others... MaxSem 10:00, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just because I was responsible for the counting and this is definitely votes without contributions. They was discarded in my RFA just like in other's RFA. Big amount of such a votes is result of flashmob from newly created accounts of ruwiki users, who do not know Belorussian at all --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 10:20, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yaroslav Zolotaryov has not 100 non mior edits in main-namespace (including admin function) too, but he voted and elected. He used his temporaly admin flag to fighting with opponents. --Morpheios Melas 09:34, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He removed many votes contra himself, then wrote in allection page "Total 4 support, 2 oppose, candidate is elected." about himself, and protect voting page. But in this case 4 sopport is not more than 2/3 of voters HE IS NOT ELECTED!!! --Morpheios Melas 09:38, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And the opponents were not from Belorussian wikipedia at all. We use 1/2 majority rule, the voters are not many all the same. About my possibility to participate in elections it was common decision of the local community. As to 2 votes against, they do not have the 100 contribs before elections - Astap has 51 non-minor edits [2], Redline has 29 non-minor edits [3], before beginning of the vote. So actually I have no opposition except newly created accounts from ruwiki. I choose do not delete Astap and Redline simply because I like them and do not want to hurt them by deletion. But according to the rules you proclaim I have no opposition at all--Yaroslav Zolotaryov 09:55, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So not only I do not use admin flag against opposition, but I even count some votes against me when they are really illegal. In contrast, you and your friend choose to flahmb in other wikipedia, making newly created accounts, when you do not know even a word in Belorussian, and never contributed to the wiki, but you specially came just to fight in the vote, which you yourself acknowledge speaking with Tarasievich in bewiki.--Yaroslav Zolotaryov 10:11, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes i forgot this. Yaroslav always change rules of elections. In begin there are no any rules. When he became lose elections was inserted rule about 100 non-minor edits in main-namespace of incubator:Wb\be\. Now after we count his edits and votes was counted he want change rules again. --Morpheios Melas 10:21, 3 April 2007 (UTC) 1/2 majority rule was not annonced before Yaroslav became lose election. --Morpheios Melas 10:24, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In begin it was a general rule - users of other wiki are not allowed to vote in this wiki, you have made flashmob, then we have made this rule more accurate (100 contribs or previous admin status - please remember you speaking with Tarasievich, who said to you "all the same Yaroslav was previously admin and we trust him"). If I would applicate the 100 contribs rule preciously, I would have 100%, but I choose do not delete Astap and Redline. Please count all my contributions in Incubator wiki, not only in main space - check log of blocked users by me in Incubator, log of deleted articles - the amount will be around 100 in general. I do not want to be admin very much, but your holy war to take power on Belorussians seems very bad for me. --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 11:05, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes i count renames, deleting total with non moinor edits its about 90 heh! :) But deleting is not counted anywere. --Morpheios Melas 11:13, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But I have blocked tens of vandals, so all is ok even from formal POV.--Yaroslav Zolotaryov 11:15, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And I have more general question - what do the Russians do in Belorussian elections? Let this thing will be decided by Belorussians--Yaroslav Zolotaryov 09:56, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You not belarussian too. You cannt speak belarusian. --Morpheios Melas 10:21, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ha-ha, tell this stories to somebody else, but not to Belorussians--Yaroslav Zolotaryov 11:05, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Anyone belarusian can confirm this story. :) --Morpheios Melas 11:13, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • In fact, I, as a native Belarusian speaker, was surprised that Yaroslav Zolotaryov not only understands spoken (written) Belarusian, which was known to me before, but actually also speaks (writes) quite advanced Belarusian. Yury Tarasievich 11:17, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My grandfather was Belorussian, exiled to Siberia, and he teach me Belorussian in my childhood. But it was a Western Belorussian dialect (from Hrodna), so I can sometimes make errors in standard Belorussian. I hope it can be corrected with your help in several months. --Yaroslav Zolotaryov 11:21, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uyghur Wikipedia

I request sysop access for User:Barat on Uyghur Wikipedia. He is a native Uyghur and has been an active contributor on Uyghur Wikipedia.

Thankyou very much. --Jose77 22:33, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Don't request without following the rules. You made your request the 29 (not a week has even passed) and so far only you have supported the candidate. drini [es:] [commons:] 22:43, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That is because there is no Uyghur community on Uyghur Wikipedia; hence there is no one else to support him. Also, many of his friends living in China have told him that they were unable to access Uyghur Wikipedia. User:Barat is the only Uyghur contributor there. --Jose77 23:45, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If the wiki is inactive, then a temporary sysophood should be granted. MOreover, he hasn't even confirmed he'd like to be a sysop, you just nominated him 3 days ago and informed him yesterday. It's the second time you nominate ombodu for uyghur wikipedia in a month, quite a lot for an inactive wiki is it?
Moreover, in the last 500 changes in the past 30 days are just 20 edits from Barat (other than you and bots). So what's the urgency? wait the full week and nominate again. But if the wiki is really that inactive, then you I suggest you to nominatie him for a temporary sysophood (btw, your's is about to expire this week). drini [es:] [commons:] 00:12, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I will wait patiently for a week or several weeks if necessary. --Jose77 00:36, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Croatian Wikiquote

I request sysop access for user Treecko on the Croatian wikiquote project since there's no active admin. The voting page is here.

Requesting Bureaucrat access. 'cause its a funny word to spell (seriously, to set bot flags).

  • I'm pretty much the only active sysop there at the moment. A few users keep contributing frequently.

Bambara, Fulfulde and Wolof Wikipedia

I'm requesting bureaucrat status on these Wikipedias. I want to give bots bot status to make it easier to check the recent changes. I've been (the only) administrator on these Wikipedias since 2005 and there haven't been any complaints. I'm actively involved in the afrophonewikis list and there has been some (but not awesome) progress with these Wikipedias, especially the Wolof one. Guaka 14:02, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please organize a vote on the wiki's mentionned, to let the community be able to approve or deny your request. Effeietsanders 14:59, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I created one for the Wolof Wikipedia, which has the biggest community. I will copy it to ff and bm if it's okay. What do you think?
I would also be happy if a steward could mark all the bots as bots. That would make it a lot easier to maintain these Wikipedias. Guaka 04:32, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Once bureaucrat, you can create the botbits yourself. Otherwise, the procedure is describerd here. There is also the request page. Effeietsanders 15:53, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CheckUser access

To request CheckUser information, see Request for CheckUser information. This is the place to request CheckUser access. Note that temporary CheckUser access is not permitted.

Stewards: When someone asks for CheckUser status, please check the current policy regarding bestowal of status before giving the status. Breaching these rules may be cause for removing your steward access. When you give someone CheckUser, please list them on CheckUser, ask them to subscribe to checkuser-l, and email checkuser-l-owner@wikipedia.org so that the listadmins know the person is allowed on the mailing list (the list may contain confidential information).

Yann on Commons

Hello, The vote for CheckUser access on Commons seems quite successful. See commons:Commons:Administrators/Requests_and_votes/Yann_(rfcu). May I request another steward to give me CU rights? Thanks, Yann 21:26, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done Enjoy :) --Dbl2010 03:03, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lar on Commons

Hi, I think my vote for Check User on Commons also went quite well, when I last checked it was at 28 support, 1 oppose and 1 neutral. See commons:Commons:Administrators/Requests_and_votes/Lar_(rfcu). So I'd also like to ask a steward to give me CU rights there if one of you would be so kind. Much appreciated! ++Lar: t/c 15:30, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. MaxSem 15:38, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oversight access

Do not initiate an oversight request here. The Arbitration Committee will make the request once there is consensus on the local wiki (this process is currently for en-Wikipedia only).

Stewards: When you give someone oversight access, list them on Hiding revisions.

Removal of access

You may request that your own access be removed here; stewards will grant such requests immediately if you provide proof that you are the same user on meta as on your local wiki. This may be accomplished most easily by placing a note in English on your local talk page confirming your request.

To request the removal of another user's status, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, a trusted person from that wiki should provide a link here to the discussion, a very brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion.

User:Jose77 on Uyghur (ug) Wikipedia

Discussion moved to Requests for comments/Jose77 on Uyghur Wikipedia. MaxSem 05:17, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I do not wish to move request back here, but now this user blocked me second time here for "hurting his feelings". This not fair, he accused me of being terrorist, erased evidence of such accusation without apology (but it still can find here), tells me my origin without knowing. I never accuse him of being terrorist, just of poorly administrator. Here I emphasise: user does not speak Uyghur according to own statement, and user was appointed administrator here without election. For this out-of-process block I request immediate desysopment.--توشقا 22:12, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Due to an unpredictably long absence which is going to leave me out of it.wikipedia, I prefer to get back to simple user status, I don't want to let users down vainly waiting for my intervention. On the other hand I'll feel free to pop in sporadically to "wikitinker" if time and family lets me do it... so I'm asking to remove my sysop flag on it.wikipedia.

Seriously thanks in advance. I left a message in my italian talk page to confirm my intention. - εΔω 17:39, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Temporary permissions for emergency or technical purposes

If you are requesting administrator status to make a translation of the wiki interface, see also the BetaWiki project, which seeks to make a neutral MediaWiki translation that will then be default for all wikis. That is more useful than only making a local translation. You can ask questions in the IRC channel or in the mailing list. See also MediaWiki localisation.

Stewards: Currently active temporary permissions are listed at /Approved temporary. When granting a request, please copy the request to the appropriate section there, and clearly state the date of removal. Requests only need remain listed below for a few days, and may afterward be removed as long as they have been copied to the subpage.
