Talk:Events calendar

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hi user:0x010C could you add a new location, Saint Maurice Switzerland (Valais)? I'm afraid to mess everything up if I do it myself. Furthemore, I have added a wrong location for one of the wkimidis in Geneva: it shows it in …Lugano. I am not able to modify an event that has allready been entered. Sorry for the trouble. Kind regards, Nattes à chat, 16:38, 11 May 2018

Putnik, what do you say, is this the most efficient way for this page to be? Adding translations of places names manually seems like a huge waste of time. --Ата (talk) 08:28, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ата: most communities wont need translations much since most tags such as "Wikidata" are proper names common to English, French, Spanish, Chinese, etc. But the option is better to be open. Hugo en résidence (talk) 13:42, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Common.js enabled by default on meta accounts?[edit]

I see this is not yet enabled by default :-/ How hard could that be? Zblace (talk) 16:15, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's not that it is hard, it is that some users are arguing against it. Ainali talkcontributions 21:45, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Could we enable the extended features...[edit]

...so n00bs like me can add an event? KarenJoyce (talk) 21:13, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Location stopped working[edit]

I can't really figure out why, but the location cannot be added or edited now. Do you have any clue Putnik? Ainali talkcontributions 22:59, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Putnik hello, are you still active on this project code to implement requested or suggested fixes by the community ? Depending on the answer, we could bring to you requests or look for a new maintainer, as it is often the cases on open source projects. Thanks already for your past contributions. @Yug, I'm less active in Wikimedia projects at all since last year due to moving to a new country, but I'll try to check it next weekend. — putnik 13:55, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

When creating an event, could some fields be required by default ?[edit]

Dear all, dear Putnik,
@Céline Husetowski WMFr who manages the communication at Wikimedia France pointed out some fields would be better if marked as `required`. It would indeed makes the data more complete and therefore events easier to search.
On the "should we ?" side, do you see any negative side effects ?
On the "how to do it?" side, I checked User:Putnik/Events-calendar-editor.js, looking to edit the `tag` or `langs` fields (OO.ui.MenuTagMultiselectWidget: #L-127,#L-128, FieldLayout : #L-159 and #L-160) to make it as required (maybe required: true, indicator: 'required', ?) but didn't go further. It may need to dig into the OO.ui documentation for the proper parameter and the right place to add it. Anyone already used such OO.ui "required field" features ? cc: @VIGNERON.
