- Unfair Block and Systemic Appeal Failure on Turkish Wikipedia
Username: BuzutkuProject: Turkish Wikipedia (tr.wikipedia.org)Issue: Unjust indefinite block, denial of appeal mechanisms, and lack of transparency
Background
[edit]I am a long-time contributor to Turkish Wikipedia under the username "Buzutku". I have been a member for nearly 15 years. Recently, I was indefinitely blocked on the Turkish Wikipedia under the allegation of being a sockpuppet of another user. This allegation is false. I have no connection whatsoever to the account I was accused of being related to, nor to its actions.
The basis of the block was a request that someone made to me to edit a page. Apparently, this same request was made to other users, and one of them performed vandalism. Without any proper evidence, I was accused of being that user's sockpuppet and blocked.
Attempts to Appeal
[edit]After being blocked, I attempted every available channel to appeal the block:
I contacted Turkish Wikipedia administrators, but was ignored and then blocked from communication.
I submitted an unblock request through the UTRS system multiple times, but never received a verification email despite using valid email addresses.
I sent a direct email to UTRS and to the Stewards team, but was informed that they cannot interfere in local community decisions.
I posted a help request on Meta-Wiki, only to be dismissed again with no meaningful resolution.
Concerns
[edit]This situation raises serious concerns about:
Abuse of administrative powers on the Turkish Wikipedia
Lack of functioning appeal processes for wrongfully blocked users
Failure of the system to uphold the principles of due process and accountability
I am being silenced without evidence, without opportunity for proper appeal, and without transparency. The accusation was never proven, and no behavioral or technical evidence was presented.
Request
[edit]I kindly request that the Meta-Wiki community and Wikimedia Foundation:
Review the process that led to my block on Turkish Wikipedia.
Investigate whether the administrators involved followed Wikimedia policies.
Provide an alternative, functioning appeal process for users whose local channels have failed.
I am ready to answer any questions, provide any details, and cooperate fully with a fair and transparent review.
Thank you for your attention.
