Linter[edit]

Hi, Johan. It's not a new category. It's a new high priority category. It's important, because high priority should be empty very soon, before Tidy removal. If it wasn't high, it wasn't in the news, and there were a couple. IKhitron (talk) 20:34, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Added sentence about importance. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 12:26, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, User:Johan (WMF), maybe I can't explain well. I didn't talk about that at all, but about adding the words "high priority", as it was in the first place in phab. Thank you. IKhitron (talk) 13:23, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"This is important to fix" was my way of trying to make clear for readers that it is a high priority. (: I was afraid that "this is a high priority" would sound much like this was a high priority for someone but not necessarily their problem. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 13:47, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well, User:Johan (WMF), you could make both. It's not somebody thinks it's high priority, it's official, on the page Special:LintErrors, in the top section. IKhitron (talk) 13:50, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I must admit I don't see the difference – to most users, I think "this is important" is more urgent than "high-priority" – but I've edited the sentence to say high-priority category now. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 13:58, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much. It's just the people who fix Linter already know what "high priority" is, but don't know other names. IKhitron (talk) 14:00, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Right. That's a good argument. Sorry for not realising, I was too stuck thinking about the general editor who's not using Linter right now but might start. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 14:04, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see an issue in experimenting with terminology, so to speak. Whatever we used the last time likely activated people on several wikis, not on en.wp though ;) --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 14:08, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Either way, the translators have been told it's safe to translate, so I think we better just leave it the way it is now. (: /Johan (WMF) (talk) 14:16, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Filter[edit]

Hi, Trizek (WMF). Maybe I'm wrong, but looks like there are two messages about the same issue, new filters for edit review. IKhitron (talk) 08:58, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi IKhitron
They are not the same:
  • one is about Watchlist who will get the Filters as a Beta feature,
  • the other one is about RecentChanges, where filters will be available by default to all users soon.
Trizek (WMF) (talk) 09:14, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I see, Trizek (WMF). Please add to the last one the words recent changes. Thank you. IKhitron (talk) 09:18, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Good catch, thank you! Trizek (WMF) (talk) 09:27, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. IKhitron (talk) 09:31, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

PDF export[edit]

"You can use Electron instead" will be false if mw:Reading/Web/PDF_Functionality#Update_September_2017 is true (PDF export for books being disabled entirely). --Nemo 17:50, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nemo: Yes, we later came to that realization and had a correction in Tech/News/2017/39. I've put <s> around the incorrect part here in case anyone comes reading in the archive. Thanks for the remainder. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 22:18, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
