A barnstar for you!

[edit]
This barnstar is given to you for your help with the 2011 fundraiser translation.
This barnstar is given to you for your help with the 2011 fundraiser translation.

Hi! I just want to thank you and give you this barnstar for your help with the translation of the 2011 fundraiser! The fundraiser was the best we ever had, both in terms of the amount we collected and in terms of number of translations. We couldn't have done either one without the help we got from you and other translators. If you are interested, we made a report, which has some statistics about the translations.

And: I have one more request, and that is that you take this survey. You may have got an e-mail about it, and if you did, please ignore this. But if you didn't it would be great if you would take this survey too, so we can learn to improve the translation experience.

Again, thanks for your help with translations – you're awesome! Jon Harald Søby (WMF) 13:27, 24 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello Translators

I just want to thank you for volunteering and to say how appreciative I am of the work translator do, in particular with the fundraiser. It is nothing short of vital.

Our first big test of the year is going to be dedicated to the Spanish language and so over the coming days you'll receive a number of translation requests. For the moment the goal is insuring that all donor communications are fully translated. These quick steps will help get you started:

  • Click on the "translate to Spanish" link above
  • Double click the message you want to translate
  • Type your translation, click save and repeat.

The Fundraising team are also looking for local testers and proofreaders in the spanish language to help us throughout the year.

If you would be interested in helping us please email me (jseddon at wikimedia.org), post on my meta talk page [1] or post on the talk page of the fundraiser translation hub [2]. Feel free to post any questions, comments or feedback about the new translation extension on the same talk page as well [2].

You should receive one more notification after this. I will try and keep the notification traffic down as best I can.

Translation notification: Wikimedia Highlights, July 2012

[edit]
Hello Clarkcj12,

You are receiving this notification because you signed up as a translator to Spanish and French on Meta. The page Wikimedia Highlights, July 2012 is available for translation. You can translate it here:

The priority of this page is medium.

Note: This time, the "Wikimedia Foundation highlights" section does not include the usual coverage of the most notable work of Foundation staff during that month. Instead, it contains a list of talks given by Foundation staff at Wikimania, summarizing their most important work the year over. It looks like a lot of text, but only the talk titles will need to be translated. The intention is that these titles alone can already give readers a good overview of what the Foundation is working on in general.

You are receiving this message because you signed up to the new translation notification system. Questions about this system can be asked at [3], and you can manage your subscription at [4].

Your help is greatly appreciated. Translators like you help Meta to function as a truly multilingual community.

Thank you!

Translations:Participation:Support/17/es

[edit]

Hola. Deja de hacer traducciones con programas de traducción, como Google Translation. Para eso no se pedirían traductores humanos. Te lo digo porque en esta página lo hiciste Translations:Participation:Support/17/es, y pusiste palabras como "pulg", que ya me dirás qué significa.--Vivaelcelta (talk) 20:02, 14 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

The word "pulg" in Spanish means in. When when it was used in that sentence. It is asking which event they want to participate in. Hope that answers your question. --Clarkcj12 (talk) 14:23, 16 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

The word "pulg" does not exists in Spanish. I don't know where you get it, but it's wrong. I'm from Argentina, and Vivaelcelta is from Spaon. The Real Academia Española has the official online dictionary (created in conjunction with the other Language Academies of countries that speak Spanish), and the word "pulg" does not exists. Also it does not exist in Wiktionary (both Spanish and English versions).

Neither Google Translate recognized it as a valid translation of "in":

Preposición

en in, on, at, into, to, for
dentro de within, in, inside, into
sobre on, about, upon, above, concerning, in
bajo under, beneath, underneath
adentro in
de cada in
Adverbio
dentro within, in, inside, indoors
adentro in, indoors
Abreviatura
Indiana Ind., IN
Adjetivo
para iniciados in
Sustantivo
detalle detail, gesture, technicality

I guess the problem comes from the translation of "inch" as "pulgadas", when abbreviated: in.pulg.

Your translation -- thanks!

[edit]

Hi Clarksj,

I just notice you translated my essay, Banned user membership on lists of Wikimedians, into Spanish. Thank you -- I am glad to see it!

I have not received much feedback on that essay, and would be very interested to hear what you think. Could you let me know if it seems like a good description of the issue, and if the proposed approach makes sense to you? It might make the most sense to discuss on Talk:Banned user membership on lists of Wikimedians.

Thanks again! -Pete F (talk) 16:56, 17 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please fill out our brief Participation Support Program survey

[edit]

Hello, the Wikimedia Foundation would like your feedback on the Participation Support Program! We have created a brief survey to help us better understand your experience participating in the program and how we can improve for the future. You are being selected to participate in our survey because you submitted or commented on Participation Support requests in the past.

Click here to be taken to the survey site.

The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete. We really appreciate your feedback! And we hope to see you in the Participation Support Program again soon.

Happy editing,

Siko and Haitham, Grantmaking, Wikimedia Foundation.

This is a message from the Wikimedia Foundation. Translations are available.

As you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees approved a new "Access to nonpublic information policy" on 25 April 2014 after a community consultation. The former policy has remained in place until the new policy could be implemented. That implementation work is now being done, and we are beginning the transition to the new policy.

An important part of that transition is helping volunteers like you sign the required confidentiality agreement. All Wikimedia volunteers with access to nonpublic information are required to sign this new agreement, and we have prepared some documentation to help you do so.

The Wikimedia Foundation is requiring that OTRS volunteers sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain their access. You are receiving this email because you have been identified as an OTRS volunteer and are required to sign the confidentiality agreement under the new policy. If you do not sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015, you will lose your OTRS access. OTRS volunteers have a specific agreement available, if you have recently signed the general confidentiality agreement for another role (such as CheckUser or Oversight), you do not need to sign the general agreement again, but you will still need to sign the OTRS agreement.

Signing the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information is conducted and tracked using Legalpad on Phabricator. We have prepared a guide on Meta-Wiki to help you create your Phabricator account and sign the new agreement: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information/How to sign

If you have any questions or experience any problems while signing the new agreement, please visit this talk page or email me (gvarnum(_AT_)wikimedia.org). Again, please sign this confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain your OTRS access. If you do not wish to retain this access, please let me know and we will forward your request to the appropriate individuals.

Thank you,
Gregory Varnum (User:GVarnum-WMF), Wikimedia Foundation

You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:24, 30 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
