Translation admin
[edit]You should probably run for translation admin here. We're very short-staffed, and your edits to translatable pages have generally been appreciated. * Pppery * it has begun 23:40, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you. I'll think about it. Cookai🍪 (💬talk) 10:27, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
Hi Cookai, you did a great job in translating to zh. Can you maybe take a look at the new translatable statements? TenWhile6 19:01, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
- thank you. I have posted at User talk:TenWhile6/XReport#zh_translation. Cookai🍪 (💬talk) 01:41, 15 October 2024 (UTC)

Possible wish to translate
[edit]I have seen you around the wishlist and I thought you may be able to mark Community Wishlist/Wishes/Mulighet for å legge til ikoner for mobilvisning gjennom addPortletLink for translation. The author has provided an English translation on the talk page instead. It looks to be a worthwhile wish. Commander Keane (talk) 02:12, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- I also think it would be a worthwhile wish. However, I don't feel comfortable working on the translations before a staff changes the status to Open. Cookai🍪 (💬talk) 05:39, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oh I see, the status was a mystery to me. Thanks anyhow. Commander Keane (talk) 06:34, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- Could you fix baselang at Community Wishlist/Wishes/Improve history of pages, include section history too? It is currently 'sq'. I saw you fix this one. I am unsure if I can edit the baselang. Commander Keane (talk) 02:39, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
Done. I think anyone should be allowed to change it to fix it. Cookai🍪 (💬talk) 02:58, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
Thank you

Done
Thank you very much! 14:22, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
Hello, my name is Omotecho (talk) and I wish you will look at a page: It has, since this revision, a pair of translate tags visible, up in the page top box in larger fonts.
I support the idea we better localize that title, but lost at:
- how do we place the tags correctly?
- if any translation administer push that part for translation please?
Would you mind correct the tagging perhaps? Kindly excuse me to requesting you, as you have corrected that page very recently.
Appreciate the opportunity and learn from you what is the best way to put it right, so that I would understand how to deal with similar cases in the future. Cordially, -- Omotecho (talk) 05:05, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, the problem is caused by Template:Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos 2025, which contains translate tags but has not yet been marked for translation. I have marked the template.
- The best way to fix/prevent this is probably to avoid leaving a template that contains translate tags without marking it. Cookai🍪 (💬talk) 05:37, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, so thankful for your crisp and intuitive reply. Case closed for me so happily. Now I am better at translation! Kindly, arigatow, --Omotecho (talk) 20:02, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- Ieie, I'm glad I can help. Cookai🍪 (💬talk) 10:11, 15 May 2025 (UTC)

About my translation on Wikimedia Meta
[edit]Hello, I am JeffreyKim from Cantonese Wikipedia. I am sorry to read about your message about the deletion of my translation on Wikimedia Meta. I noticed that my translation is not adequate. However, I usually effort to edit my translations perfectly with my knowledge of Cantonese and English. All the view in my own eyes, I will translate the content into Cantonese from English much better than the last time. Jeffrey Kim (talk) 14:49, 14 May 2025 (UTC)
U4C election notice
[edit]Hey there! You reverted my edit to Template:UCoC Notices yesterday. I believe you when you say "not how you remove a notice", since I don't spend much time on Meta, but that begs the question: How do I remove a notice correctly? Was [1] it? It seems odd to keep the election banner in the notice template when we don't need it. Wouldn't it have to be deleted when if they want to display a new notice in the Notices template anyways? Sorry for all the questions, Toadspike (talk) 09:53, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- My reasoning was that when a template is not in use, it is usually not emptied.
- However, my actions (here and here) might not be correct either.
- Maybe the template should keep showing, but change the text to something like this. Cookai🍪 (💬talk) 16:57, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- Now I have read the note section of Template:UCoC Notices, I apologize for my ignorance.
- (However I still don't like the way to remove everthing, I think commenting out is a better way so people don't need to go back to the history to copy & paste things.) Cookai🍪 (💬talk) 17:28, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hey, no need to apologize! You know a lot more about these things than I do. In hindsight, I agree that commenting out is better than deleting, so that future editors can reuse the code more easily. In that way I've learned something new out of this too! Toadspike (talk) 18:53, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
Get started with the Lua interface to simplify the preparation of modules for translation in MetaWiki
[edit]Greetings!
The Language and Product Localization team has developed a Lua interface to simplify the preparation of Lua modules for translation in the MetaWiki platform. This means that module developers can now use the new Lua interface to load translatable strings, and the translators can translate them in the same translation interface that is used for templates and wiki pages.
This improvement makes it easier for translators to find and edit module strings without dealing with raw Lua code. It helps prevent mistakes that could break the module during translation.
We invite you to watch our demo video and read more about translatable modules to understand how it works. Please give us your feedback on this talk page on how well the Lua interface addresses the challenges in your workflow and how useful it is in module localization tasks. You can also refer to Module:User Wikimedia project, which was recently converted to utilize these messages, for example usage.
Your feedback is important as it will help us evaluate and decide how to continue developing and improving this interface, extend it to other wikis, or change our approach.
Thank you, and we anticipate your honest feedback.
