Next steps for the wish “confirmation prompt for the rollback link”

Hello, a while ago you participated in a feedback round about a proposal how accidental clicks on the rollback link could be avoided. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and ideas!
Looking at the feedback and the rollback situation in different wikis, the development team decided how to approach this wish: As a default, most wikis won’t have a confirmation. But users who wish to have one, can enable it in their preferences, which will add a confirmation prompt to the rollback link on the diff page and on the list pages. The prompt won’t be a pop-up, but an inline prompt like for the thanks confirmation. You can read more about the planned solution and what influenced this decision on the project page. -- Best, Johanna Strodt (WMDE) (talk) 09:46, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for all the work ToBeFree (talk) 15:09, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

Images require permission

Hello. I have just seen that you have flagged my images that need permission. Previously you flagged a conflict of interest with the subject that you have now retracted. The images I found were on Google, but the source is the subject's website. If I contact someone who works for the subject, will this be considered as a conflict? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by RMP00 (talk) 17:57, 14 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi RMP00, that's an interesting question. As your main focus is probably getting the article reviewed, and as conflicts of interest should be avoided while writing an article, I personally would recommend not to contact anyone related to the subject at this point. If the person is notable according to the English Wikipedia's notability guidelines, and if the article is accepted by a reviewer, you can still ask the photographer for permission. This can always be done, even years after the images have been "deleted". According to commons:COM:OTRS, deleted images will be restored at any time if sufficient permission is received. ToBeFree (talk) 18:07, 14 November 2019 (UTC)

I see. Thank you ToBeFree, I will try to reach out to the photographers, but as you mentioned I can provide permission even after the images have been deleted. I want to make sure I have the best chances of getting the article approved. I wanted to ask another question, we have spoken previously, I'm very new to Wikipedia and am currently struggling to make sure I tick-off every criteria. I do believe the subject [[1]] is notable enough to warrant an article. If I'm not able to complete this, do you have any suggestions for someone who could help me complete this? Also, if I choose to abandon this, can the subject have an article made for him in the future? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by RMP00 (talk) 18:17, 14 November 2019‎

Thanks RMP00, and no problem. However, many editors underestimate the relatively high notability requirements on the English Wikipedia. It is important to note that no amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability.
Abandoned drafts are "deleted" after six months (see en:WP:G13). However, they can be restored on request by anyone (see en:WP:REFUND/G13). To prevent losing access to the draft content, you should create a local copy on your computer.
Perhaps the person is not notable yet, but notable in the future. In this case, your draft can easily be used as a foundation for a new Wikipedia article, by anyone, at any time in the future. Your work is not lost.
There may be people who offer to "help" you with this for pay. They can't change the notability of the person and are likely scammers; depending on the contract, you will lose money for nothing. The Wikipedia community is extremely cautious in this regard, and hiring a paid editor to continue your work will almost certainly backfire. For this reason, I strongly advise against looking for someone to continue the work. Money can't buy notability.
Best regards,

German passport

Bro, you have the best passport in the world, you should celebrate that. [2] I have a Turkish and Argentinian passport, but I need a visa for America and Canada. 🥹 Lionel Cristiano (talk) 18:14, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

I don't even have a passport 😅 I could request one, of course. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:20, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
No problem, you can travel around Europe with your ID whenever you want. 🙂 Lionel Cristiano (talk) 18:34, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
I tend to forget how luxorious and privileged that is. Perhaps because I'm not really a fan of traveling – I do like the annual WikiCon which brings me to other cities, and I enjoyed vacations in France, England and Portugal, but that's about as far as I go. Wikimania 2024 is in Poland and I intend to go there; still need to plan this properly. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:43, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
Oh hey, Wikimania 2026 will be in Paris? That's cool. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:45, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
Maybe we can meet one day :) Lionel Cristiano (talk) 19:50, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
Sure, that would be cool – Wikimania 2024, WikiCon 2025, probably Wikimania 2026. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:11, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Get started with the Lua interface to simplify the preparation of modules for translation in MetaWiki

Greetings!

The Language and Product Localization team has developed a Lua interface to simplify the preparation of Lua modules for translation in the MetaWiki platform. This means that module developers can now use the new Lua interface to load translatable strings, and the translators can translate them in the same translation interface that is used for templates and wiki pages.

This improvement makes it easier for translators to find and edit module strings without dealing with raw Lua code. It helps prevent mistakes that could break the module during translation.

We invite you to watch our demo video and read more about translatable modules to understand how it works. Please give us your feedback on this talk page on how well the Lua interface addresses the challenges in your workflow and how useful it is in module localization tasks. You can also refer to Module:User Wikimedia project, which was recently converted to utilize these messages, for example usage.

Your feedback is important as it will help us evaluate and decide how to continue developing and improving this interface, extend it to other wikis, or change our approach.

Thank you, and we anticipate your honest feedback.
