Welcome to the Grant Advisory Committee[edit]

Hi Wertuose,
Thanks for signing up to join the Grant Advisory Committee! It is my pleasure to confirm your membership. We've got a lot to accomplish together and it will be awesome to have your help. Here's how to get started:

To make your membership official, please do two things by January 23rd.

  1. Introduce yourself in the IdeaLab.
  2. Send your email address and preferred username to awang(_AT_)wikimedia.org, so that I can subscribe you to the committee mailing list.

Then there are two initial tasks for active committee members to start on right away:

  1. Read the information in the Committee Workroom (your committee organizing hub on meta), beginning with the getting started guide for new members.
  2. Start reviewing open ideas, drafts and proposals to familiarize yourself with current and past discussions. Feel free to comment now or wait until we've done orientation.

I will be sending out an orientation email to new members this coming week, so please keep an eye out!

Wikimedia CEE Spring 2015 2nd meeting[edit]

Dear Wertuose,

I am contacting You as a contact person of Azerbaijan for the Wikimedia CEE Spring 2015 event and to announce that the second meeting for the Wikimedia CEE Spring organisation team will take place on the 28th of January 2015. There will be 2 discussion groups for the meeting, as to get as much people involved (some of us have other engagements during the daytime and others are not available during the evenings).

The first group will start the discussion 12:00 CET (13:00 EET, 14:00 MSK/FET, 15:00 AMT/AZT, 17:00 ALMT, 3:00 PST).

The second group will start the discussion 18:00 CET (19:00 EET, 20:00 MSK/FET, 21:00 AMT/AZT, 23:00 ALMT, 9:00 PST).

During the discussion both Skype call and IRC will be used. For more details see event meetings page! Wikimedia Eesti will be responsible for moderating the groups, however all contributions to the etherpad protocol are more than welcome!

WLE Brasil 2015 - Grant proposal[edit]

Thanks for your comments and participation in my grant proposal regarding WLE2015 Brasil. I'm really sorry regarding the level of the discussions there. Argentom is a very famous trouble-maker in our Brazilian community as well in the international community and unfortunately there is no way to stop that. I tried to justify and explain everything in many opportunity but in every new proposal he starts with the same conversation and defamatory messages. Following the recomendation that I received I will stop to answer all questions and trash talking from Argentom. You're invited to the Ally Skills Workshop at Wikimania![edit]

You were suggested as someone who might be interested in the Ally Skills Training Workshop at Wikimania! The workshop is designed to train Wikipedia admins to be more aware of sexism and is funded by an Inspire grant. The workshop will focus on teaching specific skills and techniques directly relevant to Wikipedia admins and editors, and in particular will teach people about the psychology of trolls. The workshop will be on Thursday July 16 from 2pm to 5pm in Don Diego 3.

If you are attending Wikimania, you are invited to apply to the Ally Skills Workshop! Space is limited and we may not be able to accept all applications, so apply now. More information, including a link to the application form, is here:

We're starting a new Wikimedia digest that will be a globally focused hub for important Wikimedia movement and Foundation initiatives. We aim to supplement existing community news outlets while also filling a void left by inactive outlets like the Portuguese Wikipedia's Correio da Wikipédia, for example.
