Association
[edit]New employees
[edit]Debora Lopomo
Debora joined Wikimedia CH as our GLAM Program and Partnership Manager in December 2017. She worked already before as an external consultant for the association, developing the mid-term GLAM Strategy in cooperation with the WMCH team. In her new role, she is responsible to further develop and implement the GLAM program all across Switzerland. Furthermore, she will be the main contact point for GLAM organizations and institutions looking to create projects with WMCH. Originally Italian, but operating from Zürich, she speaks German, Italian, French (to be refreshed), and English.
Carina Laqbayli
Carina joined us as "Outreach & Program Communication Manager" at the beginning of this year. She will be mainly responsible for all external and internal Wikimedia CH communications and help give WMCH a face to the public and donors. Even though Austrian by origin, she prefers ‘chansons’ over ‘yodeling’, but she did not yet manage to give up “Sachertorte” for “Gâteau à la Raisinée”.
What happened in December and January?
[edit]Volunteer support team meeting
[edit]In November the International Volunteer support network Team took place in Berlin. It was the first time this community oriented staff group from ten different countries met to discuss how their work might be more efficient. Read more under Berlin Meeting 2017.
WMCH New Year Brunch/Lunch
[edit]A New Year gathering took place in Zürich, Geneva, and Chiasso on the second weekend of January. Volunteers and staff met to share food, review the past year, and discuss projects for the coming year. In Geneva, five volunteers joined Flor and Carina, including one volunteer from Annecy. In Chiasso, the brunch was intergenerational.
Upload Party in Geneva
[edit]The New Year Lunch in Geneva was followed by an Upload Party, for Commons volunteers to catch up on some of their backlog and for new ones to learn more about how Commons works. In case you were curious about what a malt house might look like from the outside, now you have a handy illustration for ணit. You can also see the ribat from Sousse (on the right side). ர

We thank you in advance for your participation! Here is the link to the survey: https://wikimedia.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0TBVlsuZ7uKR5bL
