For adminship requests on this wiki see Requests for adminship. Completed requests are archived.

Requests for permissions is a page to ask for sysop/admin or bureaucrat access to any Wikimedia wiki where no local means exist to do so yet. A steward will only give you access if your wiki has no bureaucrats (someone who can make sysops). If your wiki has a bureaucrat, please use the requests for adminship page on your own wiki instead.

You can also ask for a bot flag here.

For urgent access (to combat ongoing large-scale vandalism), you may ask on the #wikimedia or #wikimedia-tech IRC channels instead.

All requests presented here will be archived, after they are processed.

Current requests for permissions

Please add information in the header for which language do you want your sysop/bureaucrat status. Please note that all adminships are subject to approval by the community. If you are granted adminship and a complaint is later filed against you, this may be revoked immediately pending a vote (like en:WP:RFA) to ensure the community on your wiki supports your request.

Don't forget to inform your local community that you're requesting this status, and link to the appropriate request from this page. A steward will inform you when you have been made an admin/bureaucrat.

Admin for Wikipedia

  • I am currently sysop at te:. Please grant me Bureaucrat permissions on Telugu wikipedia to address the growing demands of the project - Vyzasatya
Please make a local request for the status, so the community will be aware of this change. Datrio 16:31, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • eo : Ĉar estas malcerte ke mi konservos stivardajn rajtojn (oni proponis ke ili estu de mi forigitaj pro malsufiĉa agado), mi petas burokratajn rajtojn por esperantlingvaj projektoj. --Arno Lagrange  11:04, 5 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • en : Because it is uncertain I'll keep my stewards rights (one proposed I lose them because of my inactivity), I ask for getting bureaucrat rights on esperanto language projects. --Arno Lagrange  11:04, 5 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Well, same thing as the others - please first notify the local community of your request. Datrio 11:06, 5 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I have done a lot for the german Wiktionary and now I am also interested in improving the icelandic Wiktionary. If you have questions about my reputation, please take a look at my user pages. I announced my request in the icelandic Wiktionary here. Many thanks in advance, --Spacebirdy 21:24, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of access

Self-de-adminship, or removal of bot flags from your bot can be requested here, and will be granted immediately. You may be asked to prove you are the same user on meta as on your local wiki first, by putting information on your talk page on your local wiki, that you're requesting de-adminship. To request the removal of sysop access from another user, please gain consensus on this on your own wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When it is finished and there is a community consensus to desysop a user, a trusted person from that wiki should just provide a link here to the discussion and a very brief explanation of what the results of that were.

de.wikipedia.org

As de:Benutzer:Simplicus didn't pass the reelection, please remove his admin flag. (77:54, [http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Adminkandidaturen&oldid=8185752). For any questions, please ask me on my german userpage or directly at the wikimania.. --MichaelDiederich 14:04, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

After chatting for hours on #wikimedia, I was advised to do this. We have a local page for permissions at b:Wikibooks:Requests for adminship. We can process all granting of permissions locally, but we can't remove permissions locally, so it would be appreciated if someone who can, could occasionally check b:Wikibooks:Requests for adminship#Removal of access, and make the appropriate changes to permissions. Thanks. - Aya T C 20:36, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sure - it'd be easier for us to remind us on this page sometimes, so if you won't get an answer from any steward in a week - just write here. Datrio 20:38, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I really don't think it's going to require that much attention. Names will probably only appear very occasionally, but it would be nice to leave this section persistently on this page. - Aya T C 20:40, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Is removal of access something that happens so often, the request can't be made here? Angela 20:47, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
We've just spent ages discussing the best procedure for this on #wikimedia. I really don't want to go through all that again, and it seems I'm not permitted to post logs from IRC onto a public site (assuming I even have them still). It occurs to me that there are better ways to do this, but unless someone can be bothered to draft a water-tight policy document on the subject, this seemed like the best compromise with a minimal amount of page editing required. My own view is that most political procedures could be achieved in software, rather than wetware, but it would be a non-trivial task to implement, and I don't expect a bunch of volunteers to work miracles in any reasonable length of time. Perhaps futher discussion on this subject should go to another page. - Aya T C 21:17, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

cs.wikipedia.org

A Wikipedian told me that on cs.wikipedia.org a vote to desysop Víta Zvánovce was passed with 25 for desysop and 11 against. Since also some Admins voted for De-Sysop, I see this as a clear vote of distrust for this user and take away his Sysop rights. I would recommend to this user that he tries to get again to an election for sysop. If he gets his rights back by just complaining everywhere he shows that he does not care about the trust of the community in his work... Sorry :-( Fantasy 21:26, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Erm.. Fantasy, why did you put that here, after you took down his sysop flag? ;) In any case, I talked with the cs community - they agree that this decision is legitimate, even though there's a bit of controversy on the vote - 67% of people should be for his desysoping, but only 65.8% are for (...or 69%, if you'll ignore the two other votes). Anyway, I'll try to be up-to-date on this situation, as Czech and Polish are pretty common. Datrio 22:05, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I got an email with the request to do it, and the right place to put the request would have been here, so I have put it here, that is why. I also don't like to do things without comment. Therefore I wrote here why I did it, and that it can be undone, if the one is crying too loud...
Thanks for your help :-) Fantasy

Requests for Bot status

To register a bot, please mention its name and the local wiki on which it will work here and make a public announcement about your intention on the local wiki and add a link to this annoucement here. The status will be given if no one will oppose your request.

Warning: for some big wikipedias, such as en:, you will need to specifically request an authorization over there. See en:Wikipedia talk:Bots for approval by a sysop and then ask for the bot flag here. Bot policy on Wiktionary (in particular en.wiktionary) is under discussion so bots should not be made without approval of the appropriate wiki. See Beer parlour.

Requests for name changes

If your wiki has no local bureaucrat, you can request your username be changed on this page. Only users with less than 5000 edits (edit counter) can be renamed. Please check if your new name doesn't exist yet on the local wiki (Special:Listusers). Edit your talk page of the wiki on which you want to change your name. State which name you want to change to. Sign it with ~~~~.

Please remember to leave a note if you have sysop, bureaucrat or bot status on the wiki in question, so a steward will move it along with your account.
