OOjs UI icon caretDown.svgWhat kinds of questions will the Wikimedia Foundation respond to through this system?
This system exists to help users obtain information from and about the Wikimedia Foundation, its staff and projects being worked on by staff. Questions may be answered directly or with links to appropriate pages where information exists or appropriate staff are available to respond. For more information on the Hub, on how questions will be handled and the kinds of questions with which we cannot assist, please see the hub home.
OOjs UI icon caretDown.svgIf I ask a question or make a request, will it be confidential?
This page and all questions submitted through it are governed by the general Terms of Use and privacy policy. Unless you choose to send your email to Answers@, your questions will be posted here publicly on Meta, as visible as your comments on any other Wikimedia page or project are. Your edit will be recorded in history (either by username or IP, depending on whether you are logged in) with a timestamp of when you made it, and your username and timestamp will appear alongside your question as a matter of routine. If you would prefer not to publish your question on Meta, you may alternatively wish to use our Answers@ email system. However, we treat Answers@ as a Foundation hosted email list and therefore cannot guarantee confidentiality under the Privacy policy. As a matter of routine, your question/request to Answers@ may be seen by a number of staff members, volunteers, or others (such as Wikimedia Foundation contractors, fellows, etc.) Volunteers who may routinely access material emailed to Answers@ would include volunteer e-mail responders as well as translators (if your communication is not in English) and volunteer sorters. There may also be some cases where, among other things, third parties will need to be consulted about your question, and they may receive copies of your correspondence. Also, emails sent to the Answers system may be stored for future access by Wikimedia Foundation staff and others. While questions/requests sent to Answers@ may be published in whole or in part or modified in conjunction with other questions/requests for publication at Wikimedia Foundation – Answers, if you so request we will try not to reveal your username and contact information on the Answers page. There may be situations – similar to those enumerated in the Privacy Policy - in which material is released inadvertently or intentionally: wmf:Privacy policy#Access to and release of personally identifiable information.

Contacts to the Answers system accordingly should not be regarded as confidential.
In using the Answers email system, you are permitting us to store and use your email and all information included therein and to share your e-mail with staff, selected volunteers, and third parties, including independent contractors of the Wikimedia Foundation. You agree to release your submission into the public domain and therefore allow us to use, transfer, and post your submission freely and without further permission.
OOjs UI icon caretDown.svgKan jeg stille mit spørgsmål på mit eget sprog istedet for på engelsk?
Yes! While the Hub team all speak English, some of us speak other languages as well, and we are happy to seek out translation (whether by another person or by machine) for questions asked in languages we don't speak. We may answer your question in English (possibly supplemented by a flawed machine translation) if we don't feel we can write comprehensibly in another language, but we will not ignore questions just because they aren't in English!

Hi! I was reading Strategy/Wikimedia movement/2018-20/Working Groups and one of the requirements was "A good understanding of the landscape of the Wikimedia movement and its structures" and I'll be honest, I have no idea where to start reading about it. I know there's Wikimania, the various projects like Commons, Wikipedia, Wikidata, etc. I know there are mailing lists, although I'm not sure how active people are in those mailing lists. Sprinkle some drama (I'm not sure if knowing a little bit about discussions and "fights" is important) I just get lost in a sea of information. Could someone help me know where to start reading about it, and understand more the WMF, the Wikimedia Foundation, and the people involved? Thanks! Tetizeraz (talk) 02:19, 28 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I have question concerning the text of the Bylaws, Section IV.7, "Any Trustee may be removed, with or without cause, by a majority vote of the Trustees then in office in accordance with the procedures set forth in Section 617.0808(1), or other relevant provisions of the Act." What is this Section 617.0808 referred to and where can I find it ? As far as I can see its not specified in the text. Claude J (talk) 16:36, 24 June 2019 (UTC)

I've been trying to document certain aspects of the WMF here on Meta, and I've been having some difficulty as a result of the lack of data on the jobs and responsibilities of the various WMF employees. It would be quite helpful if the WMF could provide the list of job descriptions of all current WMF staff. Would this be possible? Yair rand (talk) 06:14, 20 August 2019 (UTC)
