A Community Engagement project focusing on Movement Strategy Implementation. A three month project that will help introduce and get community members involved in the Movement Strategy initiatives Implementation and also give new opportunities.

Aims

10 Recommendations

Movement Strategy is a collaborative effort to imagine and build the future of the Wikimedia Movement. We see the need to involve community members to contribute in building this future. The aim is to raise awareness and encourage community members on Movement Strategy initiatives and to advance movement strategy participation. This seeks to move our community towards change as we have new editors and groups. We plan to engage, sustain interest, share outcome and celebrate success. Another purpose is to Create a support group in the community which will be a driving factor in social and digital transformation which will lead to improved outcomes for members of the community; to Increase volunteer retention and engagement through experiences and programs; Retain new editors; Increase motivation and decrease challenges; Encourage one on one mentorship by experienced editors both in person and online; Ensure an inclusive and welcoming community; Improve community members experience which will help in building a stronger Community. The project will focus on movement strategy,its initiatives and recommendations. It will focus more on Recommendation #6 invest in leadership development skills, this initiative was chosen to give us the opportunity to learn from each and develop peer learning platform.

Outcome

  • Translation of Movement Strategy initiatives to Igbo language.
  • We had 3 virtual sessions on this project where

we discussed extensively The Strategic directions. On the first virtual session,We had our panelists Ayokanmi Oyeyemi and Tochiprecious and our Moderator Nkem Osuigwe who opened up knowledge on Movement Strategy, defining it as plans or vision to the movement 2030 mandate.

On the Second virtual session we had a wonderful session with Oby Ezeilo and Isaac Olatunde A member of the leadership development working group. They gave extensive definition of leadership and how we can invest in skills in the movement to promote and enhance leadership in our community.

The third virtual conversation was seasoned with shared experience and mentoring from Iwuala Lucy. This session involved mentoring session on skill investment and leadership development.
