Bangla Wikibooks has several challenges,

1. There is not much child-friendly open educational content. 2. Much of the extensive Bengali cuisine is not covered in Wikibooks. 3. The general Wikipedia reader, including the good number of Bengali Wikimedia community member, is not familiar with the project, due to which the project is less active.

We will try to solve Wikibooks challenges in the following ways:

1. Creating child-friendly open educational content in the Wikijunior namespace. 2. Making book about Bengali cuisine in the cookbook namespace. 3. Promote Wikibooks to mass audiences through contest campaigns and calls for contributions. That will be done via central notice, village pump announcements, massmessage, mailing list, and social media handles.

Bangla Wiktionary also has several challenges, such as a small number of Bengali entries, incomplete entries, and project inactivity. We will try to solve these challenges by:

1. A very small part of the huge Bengali vocabulary is available in the Bangla Wiktionary. We will enrich the open vocabulary of Bangla by creating new entries through this competition. 2. The Bangla Wiktionary has many types of messy entries; we will bring these entries into this project within a specific standard sequence. 3. No official editathon or competition has been organized for this project since the creation of the Bangla Wiktionary; this will be the first official competition for this project. Through this, we will promote Wiktionary and encourage contributors to contribute.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

We will create translations and basic books on Wikijunior, cookbook and main namespaces. Wikibooks contest will run throughout the month of June. The contest project page can be found here:

We will be creating entries and improving the quality of existing entries in Wiktionary. This part of the competition will run throughout the month of July. The organizing team will organize a session at the beginning of the competition about Wiktionary editing. The contest project page can be found here:

As the competition progresses, the review process will continue, and we will complete the review and issue the prizes within the grant timeframe.

Learning and metrics[edit]

17. What do you hope to learn from your work in this project or proposal? (required)

We have previously organized similar contests twice in Bangla Wikibooks.[1][2] Therefore, we perceive this as an excellent opportunity to introduce newcomers to the project. Through this initiative, we aim to explore the efficacy of such projects in advancing smaller initiatives, understand how to effectively manage and design competitions, identify potential challenges that may arise, and develop strategies to address them. By gaining insights from this experience, we can enhance our approach to future small-scale projects within the community. Additionally, we can use this knowledge to inform and improve similar endeavors in other contexts.
