Oludegun/Adding bibliography of Nigerian Hospital to Wikidata & Celebrating Wikidata’s Birthday in Ibadan, Nigeria.
Nigeria health sector is divided into Teaching, Federal, Specialist and Private Hospital. Different tiers of the government handles different sphere of the health sector. The Federal Government provides the tertiary healthcare while State government manages the Secondary Healthcare and the Local Government provides the primary healthcare. To enhance the operation of tertiary institutions, the FG established at least one Federal Medical Center( FMC) in each of the 36 states in the country. The private hospital enjoys the largest count number of counts running to over 1000 hospitals. The Teaching and Medical hospitals are affiliated with approved Universities and Medical schools across the country. As of today, there are 92 teaching institutions and 23 FMC in the country. However, there are huge content gap about Nigerian hospitals on Wikipedia. Less than one-quarter information of the entire number of hospitals in Nigeria are showcased on the platform. So, readers, researchers from Nigeria visiting Wikimedia related Wikipedia projects are likely to encounter scarce of information with respect to the basic information on Health sectors in Nigeria.
