Hello Wikilover90, thank you for running this campaign and for submitting the final report. It is really nice to see all the hard work you’ve put into making the animated video. I enjoyed watching it! I have a few comments and questions for you:

  • I'm sorry to hear that you have had challenges due to the limited budget. I wish we had bigger budget for you in order to support you better.
  • I could see that there has been a significant increase in the number of pageviews of the Main page of Punjabi Wikipedia. Have you only tracked the pageviews of the main page?
  • Would you please share with us how many people you were able to reach with the help of Facebook ads?

Hello DSaroyan (WMF), thank you for accepting the report! This was my honor and pleasure to support community in India and work for much advocacy needed to spread awareness about Wikimedia movement and its projects. Yes I tracked only the pageviews for the main page since that was the target to bring readers to Wikipedia project and leave them to explore whichever topics they find need in Punjabi language. We were able to reach 170,189 people with the help of Facebook ads. The social media campaigning I did was done, taking short breaks in intervals of weeks so we can see how much people remain organically. In the end, by the time we ended the paid campaign on 22 November, 2018, 170,189 unique visitors had visited Punjabi Wikipedia. Please let me know if I was able to clarify your question. I am happy to discuss more if needed! :) Thank you and the grants team for supporting this project. This was a wonderful experience for other Indic communities as well. This video is available in Punjabi, English and a voiceless version where anyone can add their own language dubbed dialogues to create their own language version of this video. One such dubbing was done by VVIT Wikiclub in Telugu language under Indic dubbing project we initiated for other language communities. I have also gotten news about Wikimedians using this video in educational institutions in other countries for awareness purpose.
