@Epantaleo: note that the registration fee is $1700 AUD. You should convert that to USD if your total budget ask is in USD. --LZia (WMF) (talk) 16:38, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is now fixed. --LZia (WMF) (talk) 17:02, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request not funded[edit]

Hello Epantaleo,

Unfortunately, this request is not a close enough fit with the goals of the TPS program for us to approve it. In TPS, we prioritize funding participation in regional events, and we use a higher threshold for evaluating potential impact when reviewing international travel requests. In this case, the impact for Wikimedia projects isn't sufficient to warrant the cost of international travel, based on the decisionmaking precedents of this program. This is both because of the lower-exposure form of presentation (a poster) and because the direct impact to Wikimedia projects isn't sufficiently defined.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

@Mjohnson: Thanks for reviewing my submission. Actually I have been informed that I will give an oral presentation at Wiki Workshop. Not sure if this is enough to change the final decision. Epantaleo (talk) 17:36, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Mjohnson: I have been encouraged by the organizers of the conference to edit the request and submit it again. I modified the request as follows:

  1. I will do an oral presentationI not a poster as originally stated;
  2. I specified that if this work is presented at the conference, the academic paper "Etytree: A Graphical and Interactive Etymology Dictionary based on Wiktionary" I wrote with 3 coauthors will be published in the Conference proceedings;
  3. I edited section "Goal and expected impact" to specify more clearly the goals I have in mind for the talk.

Also a similar request to this one can be found at m:Grants:TPS/Ladsgroup/WWW_2017. Epantaleo (talk) 17:11, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request funded[edit]

Dear Epantaleo, Thank you for your interest in representing the Wikimedia movement at the Wiki Workshop 2017 at the World Wide Web Conference. We apologize that for the delay in our review of this request, which falls into a gray area for our program. If you still intend to participate in this event, we are happy to reimburse your participation costs in the amount of $3,182.

Should you choose to accept this support, please review the next steps for your grant as described in "How the program works". Note that your post-event report must provide a link to an outcome from your participation. We recommend that you plan your outcome in advance of the event so you are prepared to submit it as part of your report, which is due 14 days after the event. An outcome does not include the materials you prepare to present at the event (though we’d like you to link to those, too), but something that is created during or after the event because of your participation, such as a link to something new that was co-created by you and your fellow participants at the event, a blog post you wrote to share your experience with others after the event, or a learning pattern to teach others something you've learned at the event.

Our Grants Administrator will be in touch with you. Thank you for work on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation.

Warm regards, --Marti (WMF) (talk) 17:13, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
