Re: SBHandler

I had it enabled in gadgets, but I forgot to use it. I did remember to add it to the log, but I guess I didn't realize you needed to write {{removed}} (etc.). In the future, I'll remember to use the gadget. PiRSquared17 (talk) 14:24, 5 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

The only way to stop me is to globally block my IP range! I know how to change it whenever I want! HAHAHAHA!! >:D

Wikidata weekly summary #57

Here's your quick overview of what has been happening around Wikidata over the last week.

Hello. I am writing to you on behalf of a Tamil Wikipedian who could not log into Hindi Wikipedia due to some technical glitch. I've suggested one or two solutions but that didn't transform into a workable solution. I request you to either directly help in solving this problem or please refer this to a person who can be of some help. Thanks in advance. Regards, Hindustanilanguage (talk) 10:24, 12 May 2013 (UTC).Reply

IPBE through your rangeblock??

en:User talk:Blackgaia02 has been caught in your rangeblock of IP 112.207.35.0/24. Although not entirely in good standing (currently on a "last chance" unblock after edit-warring) this is a long-serving user, and is unlikely to be the target of your rangeblock since that is aimed at a spambot. Do you have any objection if I give the user IPBE? JohnCD (talk) 08:09, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, ignore this, I have just read the note at the head of this page. I will ask at Steward requests/Global permissions. JohnCD (talk) 08:19, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Having read that page, it seems it is for global permissions, and being local this request would be referred back to en:wp admins, i.e. me. So I have gone ahead and granted IPBE. If that was the wrong thing to do, please let me know; otherwise, forget it, and apologies for bothering you. JohnCD (talk) 08:48, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Gday. Asking for comment is totally okay, I am more trying to have stewards' requests filed, seen and documented in that place, not tucked away in my archives. The block is definitely not aimed at your person, it is very specifically aimed at spambots, I found 20+ at two wikis. You have done exactly as we would have wanted. If there is improvements that we can make to our documentation, or suggestions that we can make to enWP's, that feedback would be fantastic. — billinghurst sDrewth 09:53, 17 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

stopforumspam.com blacklist

Hello, if you find the list useful can you please update the manual at mw:Manual:Combating spam#$wgProxyList? There are very varying opinions on its effectiveness: most claim it's completely useless and a waste of CPU (Dantman, Thingles, others) but we have no clear indication about it. --Nemo 08:43, 28 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

I am not sure that I can speak to it as part of an automated function as a 'binary spam prevention switch', all I can speak to is its usefulness as an information source as complementary and independent reference. My comment to the mailing list was a wish to see it as part of a Bayesian approach. — billinghurst sDrewth 10:47, 28 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your message??

Hi, I saw your message, and I saw that you counted my global request as "Not Done" after your talk with Vituzzu. I don't know if you know exactly what the situation was or how it happened, I wasn't vandalizing in those pages and the whole thing was my fault for not making myself clear. I actually reached an agreement with Administrators in es.wiki, en.wiki and it.wiki if Vituzzu actually told you about that, and as you said, I can totally guarantee you that I will never do the mistakes I did. I appreciate you trying to protect Wikipedia and being honest in what you are doing, but I don't think that you know exactly how the whole thing started. (68.33.8.192 21:06, 2 June 2013 (UTC))Reply

checkuser request

Can you please reply at Steward_requests/Checkuser#Lia_2013.40hy.wikipedia. I'd like to get an answer either way, whether you are denying the request or performing it and giving a result. Thanks. ― Teak (talk) 20:53, 4 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

IP block

Hello. My current IP (204.12.217.234) is blocked by you (Cross-wiki spam: spambot: http://whois.domaintools.com/204.12.234.122). However I have to use this IP to bypass the en:Great Firewall of China to edit on zhwiki and other wikis. Could you please change the block to anonymous only? Or should I request for global IP block exempt? Regards, --Stevenliuyi (talk) 12:10, 5 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
