Meta:Requests for adminship/EstrellaSuecia

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

EstrellaSuecia[edit]

Not ending before 13 June 2021 06:37 (UTC)

I have been a sysop on SVwiki for almost a year with over 25k edits there without getting into any conflicts or that sort of thing. I also have experience with Commons, Wikidata, ENwiki and ESwiki and I am becoming more and more active as well here on Meta. If elected, I would like to use my tools to revert obvious vandalism here on Metawiki and block the accounts or IP's in question. I believe my contact information and so on is sufficient with the policy and my activity level might be fine, I'm not really sure how much acitivity is expected. At least I regurarly add requests at SRG and Spam blacklist. Because of the apparent lack of a rollback-right option here on Meta I'm applying for the full adminiship, even though rollback is my main objective here. --EstrellaSuecia (talk) 06:37, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@EstrellaSuecia: Just for your information: You can request patroller rights. They include rollback. (This is not an oppose against your RfA) --Ameisenigel (talk) 07:03, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ameisenigel: I see. Couldn't find such a page though. Well, I'll let my RfA stay up anyway. Being able to delete vandalism-only pages and localblock the trolls could be useful as well.. EstrellaSuecia (talk) 07:36, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Comment I find the request unexpected as you have not been particularly active anywhere but stewards' pages, and typically that is the last place that local admins operate. I am not seeing you active in general conversations at meta, nor other places that would indicate your knowledge of the broader meta community. Happy to have you undoing problematic edits, though really don't see you active there either.  — billinghurst sDrewth 07:53, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Billinghurst: I see your point, and yes I was initially just looking for rollback rights, but I couldn't find anywhere where you could apply for that. I've found myself scrolling through recent changes on Metawiki quite a lot in the recent months and being able to quickly revert obvious vandalism would be great. I'd settle for rollback, and thanks to Ameisenigel (talk · contribs) I now know that is a possibility. But being able to quickly delete G1-G3 pages instead of tagging them for speedy (especially if they contain attacks) would also be great. Although I'm currently not heavily involved in Metawiki discussions I'm certain in my ability to determine what is and what is not vandalism, especally considering my experience of dealing with LTA's and trolls. But like I said, simply rollback might be a better option for now. I still don't know where exactly I would apply for that though. ;-) EstrellaSuecia (talk) 08:05, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You would request patroller at Meta:RFH. Leaderboard (talk) 08:08, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Leaderboard: Thanks, I made my request there, hopefully I did it correctly. Feel free to G7 this RfA, although I might reapply at a later date. EstrellaSuecia (talk) 08:16, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@EstrellaSuecia: it shouldn't be deleted, because it has discussion from other users, but you can withdraw your request --DannyS712 (talk) 08:37, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@DannyS712: Then it's whatever, I'll leave it up. I mostly want rollback rights but if I somehow pass this RfA I won't say no. Either way I'm just interested in reverting and deleting attacks/G1-G3 and local blocking the trolls and vandals that commit these offenses. EstrellaSuecia (talk) 09:13, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@EstrellaSuecia: So you don't want to withdraw? --DannyS712 (talk) 09:14, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@DannyS712: I don't really see the point in doing so. The arguments above are a hundred procent valid, but like I said, if I somehow get the support then why not. I have no intention to do anything controversial, I just want to deal with obvious vandalism and trolling. I do not see how either option would either hurt or boost my credibility. Just leave it up, but I'd appreciate priority on the patroller/rollback matter. EstrellaSuecia (talk) 09:18, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
