Meta talk:Standard archival system

Question[edit]

Is Template:Archives deprecated due to this guideline? --Nemo 09:57, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Which month[edit]

This doesnt address which archive page a discussion should be archived on. I think the usual practise is to use the month of the last substantial edit. But there is probably some variation when a discussion occurred in one month, but a no concensus/no action closure occurs months later- should it be the month the real discussion ended, or when the closure occurred? How do you get pages to be archived[edit]

I joined at 13:26 earlier today, not an issue yet, but in the future, how do I get pages archived? Thanks mucho. Steven1825andrew2044 (talk) 22:00, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You probably don't in the general space, and I doubt that you will need to do so on your talk page at this time.  — billinghurst sDrewth 14:16, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Billinghurst: I know but I do kind of want to remove some contents. If it is not archived in 5 days I'll attempt again or just blank those sections. Steven1825 (talk) 00:48, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

standard way to post archives on a talk page?[edit]

This system recommends setting up the nonstandard /Archives. The usual place to look for discussion is by starting on the standard talk page.

Is there a template recommended for posting on a talk page, so that a person can get to the archives? I wish for search from the talk page without having to navigate to the /Archives, if possible. English Wikipedia, for example, enables search of archives from talk pages through a template without the middle step of going to an archive page.

Also this page could use a recommended example for replication. Any ideas from anyone. Blue Rasberry (talk) 11:28, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't put this page in Meta: namespace[edit]

I think this page is put in a wrong namespace, as this is a Meta-Wiki local guideline. This page should be moved to Meta: namespace. Thingofme (talk) 08:32, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed - I'll be moving it in a few days unless there are objections. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 00:03, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
