Movement communications insights/April update

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Update sent via email to focus group participants and others signed up to receive email updates about movement communications. Posted here for those not receiving emails and to facilitate translations.

Hello everyone,

Thank you all again for your interest in movement communications. I am writing with an update about timelines and next steps.

Summary: The draft report on the focus group and online discussion findings is coming together well. When the draft is complete, I will send it for translation and then post it on the project Meta page. Translating into four languages will take some time, but will allow you to review in the language you feel most comfortable. You all will receive an email when it is ready for review. The review period will last at least three weeks and I will schedule two office hours during that period.

Longer update: The focus groups finished at the end of January, and I used February and March to combine and analyze all of the data from our conversations in the focus groups and online. A number of core themes emerged from the insights you shared. Those themes make up the body of the draft report. The recommendations you gave are strong, and I’m looking forward to sharing them back with you.

I will send the draft for translation into the languages that we had simultaneous interpretation for during the focus groups (Arabic, French, Russian and Spanish). This way, you all will be able to review in whatever language you feel most comfortable.

When the draft is ready for review, you will receive an email. I will also post an update on the project talk page. At that time, I will also send out information about office hours that you can bring any additional thoughts and questions to. The review period will last for at least three weeks.

All participants that requested a stipend for their participation in a focus group should have received their stipend, with the exception of a couple of you that I have asked for additional information from. If you believe you should have received yours but have not, please respond to this email.

Thanks again for bringing your thoughts and energy to this project. I’m looking forward to continuing to discuss and to starting to work towards improvements.
