Order of time zones?[edit]

Wouldn't it make sense to put these in chronological order instead? I.e. from +12 ending with -12 and 0 in the middle? Ainali (talk) 10:56, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That makes sense to me. –SJ talk
Yes, I think that makes sense too. What do you say Shanluan? Eric Luth (WMSE) (talk) 14:43, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have reordered it now. Ainali (talk) 13:15, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you!!Shanluan (talk) 14:49, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What a lovely idea. Global banner?[edit]

I only found out about this on TG !

Map with points[edit]

At some point, I guess we should have a map like Free Travel-Shirt/Blue T-Shirt#survey map: blue T-shirt.--Pharos (talk) 17:48, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I love this idea! Pings might not be getting through, though...[edit]

Tracked in Phabricator:
Task T143665

This is fantastic. I think the pings may not be getting through, though -- they may not be enabled on Meta for the main namespace! Is there another preferred way to reach out to people? Should we just be manually inviting friends on their user talk pages, by email, etc.? -Pete Forsyth (talk) 20:19, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hm, weird! Never heard about that. But yees, manually inviting would be great too. Eric Luth (WMSE) (talk) 20:59, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
To delve into the past and editorialize briefly...the original introduction of the "notifications" feature was rushed, which resulted in a lot of unnecessary conflict. In that context, I believe the developers took a bit of a trip to Abilene, and introduced some features and behaviors, in a good faith effort to appease community members, but which no community member was asking for. One of those was to restrict notifications to only work in "Talk:" namespaces (or some kind of namespace restriction...I don't know if that was it or not.) I think this has not been revisited, and as a result we have a notification system whose proper use and functioning many experienced Wikimedians (including myself) don't fully understand. It might be good to open a Phabricator ticket, if one doesn't already exist. -Pete Forsyth (talk) 21:14, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
After discussing with @Shanluan: it seems that it is not a problem related to namespace, but to requirements around new signature code. See task T66778. -Pete Forsyth (talk) 22:43, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I also posted a note on the page. Shanluan (talk) 14:51, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What are you editing? (Wikipedia, Wikidata, WikiSource, etc)[edit]

This seems to be misunderstood as just meaning which projects users edits in general rather than linking to a specific edit (which I believe was the original intention). How can we clarify that? Is "Link to an edit you made for this editathon (on any project)" better? Ainali (talk) 07:07, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I clarified that on the page. Shanluan (talk)

How are you/How you feel paragraph[edit]

Hi, in addition of my positive phrase, I added a How I feel paragraph, as I think is important now to share with the community not only what is going on in our country (whats about people, schools, industries, markets etc), but also what are our feelings about. For example, surprisingly I often cannot be able to concentrate, even on the simplest or more desirable thing as writing on Wikipedia. What about you? --Camelia (talk) 13:11, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is a good point. Thanks. Trying to stay hopeful and still, taking one day at a time. Be well. Shanluan (talk)
