Train for 2021/01 but no Tech/News[edit]

@Johan (WMF): Do we also want to mention that wmf.25 would have rolled out the week beforehand, with a link to those changes, as well as mentioning wmf.26 which will go out this week? Jdforrester (WMF) (talk) 19:54, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Jdforrester (WMF): Makes sense. I've added a reminder for the time being. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 19:57, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Specific log entries[edit]

The wording is weird. First it talks about "you" then about "the user", it is not clear if it is the same person or not (I suspected perhaps it refers to the person generating the link and giving it to "you"). It is only by viewing the ticket that I got the idea. --Base (talk) 22:55, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Attempted to clarify. Thanks for pointing it out! /Johan (WMF) (talk) 14:18, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

For example[edit]

Hi, Johan. I think the anchor news should be rephrased. Now it looks like it works on every code page, for example js or css, but actually it works for these two, but not for the others, such as Lua. IKhitron (talk) 14:31, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

IKhitron: I had misunderstood in that case, I thought it worked on other code pages as well. Thanks. Fixed. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 14:49, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Johan. May I ask you to add an example? It is not so clear, it took me some time to realize how does it work at all. Something as "... line numbers, for example en:MediaWiki:Common.js#L-50. IKhitron (talk) 14:53, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IKhitron: Added a link to an example. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 15:09, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
How does it helps, Johan? I suggested a wikilink. IKhitron (talk) 15:13, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IKhitron: I'm not sure I understand the problem. What's the difference you're missing? What's the thing here that doesn't show how it works? I picked that link because that was the example that was specifically set up to show how it works, and doesn't give preference to one specific content wiki. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 17:04, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Johan, it's a) this link is the one I found almost instantly, and it does not help at all to understand how does it work, because it does not point to mediawiki regular wiki, as some wikipedia or wiktionary; and b) it does not say anything about [[]] wikilinks, it's URL. IKhitron (talk) 17:58, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IKhitron: Ah, sorry, I didn't quite understand which part of the information you thought was unclear. Makes sense now. I added your example. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 19:02, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks. IKhitron (talk) 19:06, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
