Logo proposal
[edit]Logo 1
[edit]The Mirror Image of W into M and Half I into full I forms logo. Mirror image reflects the virtual organization of the event. Zero is replaced by clipart of corona virus indicating the event is conducted during pandemic. Indian Flag strip reflects the geographical spread. The Illusion also creates Roman numbers 20 (XX) and 21 (XXI) separately. --Sushant savla (talk) 07:06, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
- The reflections are too bold, giving an impression of XXI, in my opinion. -- টিটো দত্ত (কথা) 11:35, 26 December 2020 (UTC) Ah, I see that was deliberate as you have mentioned in your comment. Regards. -- টিটো দত্ত (কথা) 11:36, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
Logo 2
[edit]Letter W, M added with a dot makes human figure. which indicates different communities. The grey lines reflects network / internet as the even is orgaized through virtually through internet. coronavirus ring depicts the historic period of pandemic. colors used are combination on Indian Tri-Colour Flag and Wikimedia logo colors.--Sushant savla (talk) 07:06, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
Logo 3
[edit]Creating a waves reflecting movement in terms of knowledge and progress, using W and M, with arms converted to create illusion of Indian Flag. --Sushant savla (talk) 07:06, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks @Sushant savla: for your logo proposal. This is awsome. Jayantanth (talk) 07:51, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Sushant savla: can you make an alternative version as File:WMWMI logo 3.1.svg, putting the same logo in a circle? -- টিটো দত্ত (কথা) 11:34, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
- What sort of Circle? --Sushant savla (talk) 14:36, 26 December 2020 (UTC)

A Tech Labor Edit-a-thon is happening simultaneously!
[edit]Greetings, I am organizing an edit-a-thon about Technology and Labour, including India's expanding IT/ITES union organizing. You can find more information here en:Wikipedia:WikiProject_Organized Labour/Online_edit-a-thon Tech February 2021 also happening February 19-21, so could be nice opportunity to mention this. Shushugah (talk) 21:55, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- Where do you want to mention this? If it is about submission, that is currently closed. Regards. -- টিটো দত্ত (কথা) 09:08, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hey টিটো দত্ত A link/mention on the event description/see also section on bottom would be sufficient/greatly appreciated. I know there's a lot of work to do at the Wikimeet India 2021, and I don't want to take up limited time from the conference itself. I'm happy to edit it directly myself, but wanted to check in first. Shushugah (talk) 02:49, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- Shushugah thanks for your message. This is a language-specific edit-a-thon, which does not have a direct connection with this meet. Also, if we want to add links in "See also" other global events such as Strategy meets etc can be added.
Perhaps you can try for a Sitenotice (or Watchlist notice) on English Wikipedia, which might attract relevant editors. You may also post on the India noticeboard. Regards -- টিটো দত্ত (কথা) 10:08, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Relying on Zoom?
[edit]Hi, I was wondering why are we relying on non-free programmes like Zoom for Wikimedia events, given we have Wikimedia Meet? I strongly suggest we do NOT use non-FLOSS software to the maximum extent for Wikimedia activities.
acagastya 08:28, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- User:Acagastya, we checked several options (including Wikimeet) by talking to the organisers of similar events, or in an RfC. Based on all the feedback and suggestion we have got the currently selected platform seemed to be the appropriate choice for this event. Once Wikimeet deveops further, and has more bandwidth that will a good alternative. Regards. -- টিটো দত্ত (কথা) 09:59, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- Pinging @Ladsgroup: -- Hey, Ladsgroup, can we do something about Wikimedia Meet so that we don't have to rely on non-free programmes for such events? I can see how any news reporting about this event will be a free advert for Zoom. Relying on Proprietary software for Wikimedia events just goes against the mission, imho.
acagastya 10:22, 7 February 2021 (UTC)- @Acagastya So Wikimedia Meet needs a bit of work but hopefully it can be done once phab:T273766 is resolved where I can have more computational resources for the project but I don't see a reason not to use it (unless you are like more than 50 people in a meeting which is a different scale than what Wikimedia Meet can handle). Amir (talk) 16:17, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comment, @Ladsgroup:. Any idea by when it can be done? And just to clarify, 50 is a hard-limit beyond which Wikimedia Meet won't function well regardless of this phab ticket?
acagastya 16:22, 7 February 2021 (UTC)- @Acagastya That fifty is not a clear cut number. It really depends on how it will work on the new system. Hopefully it's better than we expect. We'll see. For better support we need WMF to help. Amir (talk) 16:55, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Debian people are doing their Debconf with Jitsi and [Vocgol] [Voctomix], Voctoweb and Etherpad. Can we follow this solution? [Here] is the complete documentation for how to use it. Can we setup this and use it for the conference. The Debian video team will help us to setup and run these software. --Ranjithsiji (talk) 15:25, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- We already have Jitsi (that is Wikimedia Meet) so I don't see a point in re-hosting it. Depending on participants and how Wikimedia Meet performs now that phab:T273766 is resolved, let's see what the solution is. But yes, having Wikimedia Meet for such events will be ideal.
acagastya 16:19, 9 February 2021 (UTC)- Wikimedia Meet will be a very good alternative once the issues are resolved. We test-ran Wikimedia Meet, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. We faced issues with around 5 people where people could not hear each other (this was not an individual's issue), and we had to move to Google Meet. So, we come to options like Google Meet and Zoom. I am a more frequent user of Meet, and had very little experience in Zoom. However, Zoom seemed to be a frequently used option as well and widely used in similar Wikimedia events including the Wikimedia Strategy events. Google Meet is a stable platform, however, do not have several features that the other mentioned provider has. One of the things we got to know from the RfC is the suggestion to use a platform already know, and use. Actually, the first platform we tried was Hopin that Creative Commons summit used.
This is the first time we are trying a large-scale online event like Wikimeet, we are open to new suggestions for similar initiatives in the future. -- টিটো দত্ত (কথা) 00:16, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

Suggestions for participant interaction
[edit]Firstly, a big note of thanks to the organizers and volunteers for this lovely event.
I have the following suggestions to make to enable and enhance audience interaction.
a) I would like to suggest we look at having some open session slots where participants can have conversations with each other post sessions like in a real conference.
b) I would also like to suggest having some open slots where Wikimedians can come an introduce themselves to the community (3 mins perhaps).
If the organizers are keen to implement any of the above, I would be open to volunteer and also help orchestrate. Thank you Arunram (talk) 07:10, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hello, we have a tight schedule. We'll try to add some interaction components if time permits. Thanks for your suggestion. -- টিটো দত্ত (কথা) 05:30, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
Will recorded sessions be made publicly available
[edit]First all I would like to thank the CIS-A2K team and all the volunteers for putting together such a wonderful session on the diverse areas of the movement. I would like to know if the recorded sessions and PPTs will be made publicly available. And if yes, by when can we expect them? (I missed a session today which I would like to view) Roller26 (talk) 18:23, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Several presentations are already available (linked on the program page). Post-event we'll publish the videos as well. It might take sometime to process (cutting, checking for quality etc) the videos. We think in the next one week we'll start uploading video content Regards. -- টিটো দত্ত (কথা) 19:45, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
