Non-English interface

[edit]

Remember that users with a non-English interface will see the default for this message. --Nemo 05:32, 14 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Likely this schould be changed? --Steinsplitter (talk) 18:07, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Nemo, could you remind how to change it please? This affects me as I use Ukrainian interface language on Meta, and I would rather not just copy the text in this case as I do with e.g. MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-footer/uk, as the information about current caching settings and such is prone to be subject for changes. --Base (talk) 20:24, 17 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Nemo bis and Base: This is fixed now with this patch. I just made the neccesary changes to the MW interface pages. The intro can now be translated as well. Best --Steinsplitter (talk) 16:52, 29 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Please sync this sandbox edit. It mainly focuses on proper support for right-to-left languages like Arabic, but also hard codes the documentation page title so that Template:Centralnotice-intro/doc appears on translated pages as well, and contains some code cleanup and copy edit. Please note that the new version references Template:Centralnotice-intro/styles.css, which probably needs protection too. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 15:52, 22 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Done. --Steinsplitter (talk) 13:58, 26 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Steinsplitter: Thanks! However, there has been an edit in the past half year, which might not have needed to be deleted… Also, I don’t know what did you fix in this edit. If you wanted to make the translation variable ID unique per page—it’s not necessary at all, the only rule is that a given tvar ID should mean the exact same text within a translation unit. So the same tvar ID in different translation units is completely okay, but even within a translation unit as long as all occurrences have the exact same content. Counting from 2 would make me think something’s missing if I didn’t know that $2 was just renamed from $1. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 17:54, 27 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Regarding my edit, it was to fix the non working link because it was a duplicate. Best. --Steinsplitter (talk) 19:17, 27 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Steinsplitter: Duplicate of what? I see no other $1 in that message. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 00:01, 1 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
