Twitter Feed[edit]

Hi Aubrie,

I was just wondering if there is any process/policy of what will be posted on the official Twitter Account - I am referring to the recent tweet about the 2021 Myanmar Protests - the page is heavily edited, page protected for disruptive editing and there are some controversial discussions at WP:ITN if we should post it on the homepage so I was kinda surprised seeing it on the Twitter Feed right now. --CommanderWaterford (talk) 21:12, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the delay, and great question. We use the Article of the Week on Wikipedia's social media channels to draw attention to two things: 1) current events happening in the world and 2) the dedicated work of volunteers—hence our focus on how many times the article about the protests has been edited and its reach. By connecting Wikipedia to current events, we are able to highlight Wikipedia’s role as a reliable information source. Separate from any ongoing discussions on ITNC, we took the article's place in the "ongoing" section of ITN as a cue from the community that the article is considered worth sharing as-is.

Also, you may already know this, but you can see confirmed upcoming posts for the article of the week via the link above (although we're sorry that we were late in adding this particular article!). AJohnson (WMF) (talk) 23:00, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
