Cspurrier; Wikinews Bureaucrat; misusing Bureaucrat and Checkuser authority[edit]

It's impossible to RfDA him because he has hijacked the RfDA process on Wikinews with unilateral striking of RfDA's and striking of votes.

Cspurrier has systematically been pushing anglo-american pov on wikinews and systematically pushing away editors who do not share that pov.

Infractions;

1; Reinstating an RfDA against User:PVJ59 unilaterally (no consensus) after the nominator of the RfDA withdrew the RfDA.[1]

2; Misused Checkuser against Blueliner who was accused of no misbehavior and then struck out her vote based upon circumstantial checkuser evidence(same IP range).[2]

3; Falsely accused Tohstsalstuen of being a sockpuppet and struck out his vote.[3]

I have no specific authority (nor wish to have) to judge bureaucrat abuse. You should see that with your community. With regards to checkuser abuse, can you be more specific in an email sent to checkuser-l ATTTT wikimedia.org. A dedicated team will take you in charge if appropriate. Thank you. Mind writing a paragraph about what you are going to talk about on the panel? I need to submit a general outline by Monday. --Cat out 14:31, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Errr, I am not aware I officially agreed to be on the panel. I had issues in the past which make me request that an official invitation is sent by email at least. With specifications. Also, given the time it takes me, I need to ensure this will really be a positive move to go there 3-4 days. I am sorry about that. But still digesting badly a couple of desillusions :-) Anthere
Sorry about that, I interpreted that you would be on the panel provided I get a sponsor for your travel and etc. At the moment the sponsor thing isnt clear yet since the sponsors will meet to discuss what kind of a budget that will be needed. No one participating in the entier conferance has any kind of sponsors yet. I am however confident there wont be issues about sponsors. What else should I do aside from aranging the sponsors?
I am to submit a general outline of the panel by monday. This will be a general outline describing what the panel is to be about. This is the equavalent of an application I believe. The paragraph I requested is to be about what you plan to talk about. It can be altered completely later on should you decide not to show up at all. However I do not have the slightes idea what topics you would cover. I basicaly need a general idea of the topics that you would cover assuming you would show up.

Moderator requests help[edit]

hi, I'm one of the three moderators on the breton language wikipedia (you can reach me here[4] or via e-mail: jstefanlari@yahoo.com) and we've got a bit of a problem at the moment. I'm sorry to bother you but I'm not really sure who else to turn to - we have no stewards on our language. I highly suspect that one of the users who has recently been actively trolling is the holder of two accounts. This in itself is not a problem, what is a problem is the fact that both account holders have now taken part in a vote and, given the small number of active wikipedians active on the project, this could actually tip the balance of the result. The actual result itself is unimportant, however, it would not be fair for one person to vote more than once. so my question is:

is there anyway for a moderator to be able to compare the IP's for separate user accounts?.

I would really appreciate a swift reply, because the trolling situation is really getting out of hand and if I could demonstate ill practice in voting I could safely put a stop to the trolling by blocking both user accounts.

Thank you for your time (I can read French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan and, of course, Breton)--Neal (Breton wiki moderator)

I answered by email. Did you get it ? Anthere

Request to Stewards[edit]

I put a suggestion today Anthere 16:26, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Anthere. I'm going to answer you this: (no idea what is written in the article itself, though Cimon mentionned there are a couple of oddities, such as "Wikipedia edition will be only open with user who have given their real name". Really ?)

The article does not say that users have to give their real name. The title is in English "Wikipedia takes the new course" and short summary means "When Wikipedia Foundation has collected all information it wants to share it for whole world". I do not find there any mistake or piece of wrong information, but I can't be sure. The view in right bottom corner says that "Wikipedia has a huge responsibility" and it speaks about neutrality and independence of Wikipedia. The last one sentence means "How long can the foundation keep independent?"

If you want more translating about this, I may do it. Just ask some section or something and I'll translate it. I thought about translating the whole story - if I stand and have time, maybe. -- mzlla 22:26, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you have time, great. But the most important thing is to know there are no big mistakes in it. It is so frequent there are mistakes and then, it sometimes upset people. I am glad that at least you see nothing shocking :-) I wonder where Cimon read that... he mentionned the real name issue on irc, and I really understood it came from the article... Anthere

I translated it in English. You can read that from the image page. -- mzlla 13:03, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They baned 10 users on serbian viki for voting against administrator[edit]

On Serbian vikipedia last night they blocked on 1 year 8 users like me for voting against administrator. http://sr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9F%D0%BE%D1%81%D0%B5%D0%B1%D0%BD%D0%BE:Ipblocklist

After one voting for administrators rights in Serbian vikipedia http://sr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%92%D0%B8%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%BF%D0%B5%D0%B4%D0%B8%D1%98%D0%B0:%D0%97%D0%B0%D1%85%D1%82%D0%B5%D0%B2%D0%B8_%D0%B7%D0%B0_%D0%B0%D0%B4%D0%BC%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%81%D1%82%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%80%D0%B0%D1%9A%D0%B5/%D0%9C%D0%B8%D0%BB%D0%BE%D1%88 all users that voted are checked by checkuser and they are normal users like me. We are guilty because we voted against new administrator. Therefore we are blocked. To all of us just 40 minutes after voting they said that we obstruct project and that we are blocked for 1 year. Here is list of blocking last night at 4:09. End of voting was at 3:31 They blocked following users on 1 year , that voted aginst new administrator:

  • Hajduci
  • Sokolac
  • РадованК
  • Капетановић
  • KordaDane
  • Djuranovic
  • Sunčica

Look This user Solinda was blocked on 1 year although had not contributions for last 43 days. http://sr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9F%D0%BE%D1%81%D0%B5%D0%B1%D0%BD%D0%BE:Contributions/Solinda

And User Lindon was also blocked, because he tried to vote, but his number of edits was small.

What is worse they are explained that I am blocked because of continuation of obstruction of project. But that is first message that I obstructed project. I never done any obstruction, except voting against administrator that said he will block new users for something very small. I had never done even something very small. I never being in quarell or edit war with anybody. --KordaDane 13:53, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

After discussions with serbian editors, I fear the whole event is slightly different from what you reported. Thanks. Anthere 17:14, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on who you trust more. The fact that you believe them 100% is discriminatory. --Paunović 19:47, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I dont know what they explained you. Look there existed 3 users that used proxy, but users that I mentioned above, there is no users that used proxy. I never was in any revert war or edit war and I never voted until that moment against Miloš since he proclaimed he will block all new users on the spot, that he suspects are obstructing Wikipedia. But I never obstructed Wikipedia on any way. And not only me. For example Sunčica also never was in revert wars and that was first her vote until now. They are lying you. Solinda was voting against one of administarators 50 dazs ago and had no reverts until now but they blocked him now, after 50 days of not being active. It is easy to check for example that part of story that they are lying. They are administrators but they think they can do anything, realy anything, since they suspect that all new users are one blocked former administrator. Sorry it was me. --KordaDane 02:11, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The incident of Serbian wiki[edit]

Anthere, I noticed what happened on sr wiki, and would like to explain what actually happened. The users that were blocked all voted against giving Milos admin priviledges. Milos is one of the earliest people who got engaged in editing Wikipedia, and he has the respect of the majority of administrators for helping to bring this project together. However, over the years, Milos has started using his respect for... lets say, not so noble causes. This is why he couldn't pull off 80% of the vote, he got only 63%. He actually asked to get admin priviledges so that he can block all users that are against him. When he found out that he didn't win, he got a few of his supporter admins to block almost all of the users that voted against him. Now, if someone mentioned this on the w:sr:Википедија:Трг, their edits will be:

  1. reverted
  2. the users that left the message will be blocked indefinately
  3. the w:sr:Википедија:Трг would be protected, so that only admins can edit it.

This is where I would request something to be done on this matter, because sr wiki has become a dictatorship of a few admins. Not to mention an racist environment (one user was blocked because he was not Serb, but Turkish). Some people have tried to discuss these issues on sr wiki, but they have all been blocked indefinately for "wasting the time of the admins". Of course, whenever something like this is reported on Meta, the admins appear here and start discrediting whoever put up the request for something to be done. Now, can you please do something about this, because if we don't act soon (and I'm afraid that it's already too late), Wikipedia will be run by about 15 administrators and 0 regular users. Wikipedia shouldn't be a dictatorship, should it? --Paunović 22:46, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

simple[edit]

Apparently, I am being held to much higher standards than many other administrators on other wikis. Would you remove the status of an admin on EN over one contentious block? Would you do so without even so much as contacting them? -- Netoholic @ 22:39, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Steward application guidelines[edit]

Hello Anthere. Danny and I discussed the steward application process, and I drafted User:Pathoschild/Stewards/Application guidelines to explain it. All the information relevant to application on the election page, along with some more that Danny explained, is on that page. We can move it to Stewards/Application guidelines and simplify the election page, with the added benefit of reuseability (so we can link to it from future elections, for example). Danny approves, and suggested that I ask you what you think of it. Any thoughts? —[admin] Pathoschild 17:44, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

De-sysop of German Admin mo:User:Pill on the Moldovan Wikipedia[edit]

Hello Paginazero, you desysoped another vandal on Moldovan Wikipedia here. Now, I would like you to desysop another one, who was not accepted by community and replaced Epure.

Facts:

- there is already an elected sysop on Mo.wp so we don’t need this German Admin (mo:User:Pill)
- mo:User:Pill must be de-sysopped for abuse of administrative privileges and employing eliminating methods
- nobody asked him to request temporary sysop rights, he’s not accepted by community

Removal of new vote poll[edit]

Blocks of innocent contributors[edit]

I don’t think Alec deserved to be blocked and certainly his comments were not irrelevant to the fact that this Admin abuses his administrative privileges

Please don’t forget that both mo:User:Alec and mo:User:Dromihete are speakers of Moldovan language which is not the case of mo:User:Pill who is German.

POV pushing by Pill[edit]

Here's a question: what does Pill think he's doing? Here, my opinion on Epure's suitability for bureaucratship and another comment were deleted for what reason exactly? Here, a comment by en:User:Dahn is similarly deleted. So what is this ultimately, a rigged poll, any opinion Pill does not like is simply deleted? Here, User:Alec is blocked for two weeks for supposed "irrelevant comments on Wikipedia:Кандидаць" - since when is that a criterion for blocking? Does anyone else think Pill is going too far - I propose a petition for de-sysopment. As far as I can see, Pill is following the shining example of his predecessors User:Node ue and User:Epure (likely both the same person); both can't say anything beyond a couple of phrases in Romanian/Moldovan and both were de-sysopped for abuse of administrative privileges and employing methods used in Soviet Moldova for getting their way. Let's watch now as Pill deletes this comment under some similar frivolous excuse - let's see how well he responds to criticism and complaints of what I consider legitimate grievances.

Pill’s removal of petition against him[edit]

3 times I tried to tell him to stop his abuse of privileges[edit]

Conclusions:

Due to the fact that:

1. He does not speak the language and we can’t understand him
2. His abuse of administrative privileges
3. His bias

We request immediately de-sysop of this bias Administrator. Thank you.

Translation was made by mo:user:Vania tractoristul. Смирнов 07:58, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is no place for further engagement of Pill there. Pill must quit and leave or will ask again a petition against him. He removed it last time but now he will be under supervision of Stewards. I asked him to leave or else he will be de-sysoppped. You should de-sysop now, because we can't stand such injustice from Pill. He can't communicate with us since he doesn't speak the language. He is also bias and blocked innocent users. He was temporary granted with rights and he abused his privileges. Thank you.Смирнов 18:16, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Logo Wikiversité - Copyright fondation[edit]

Bonjour!

WikiNews[edit]

It has been discussed a number of times whether Wikipedia's Current Events Portal should be merged into WikiNews or vis a v; with no consensus being reached.

Please can I bring to your attention that as it seems to me, nor WP's Current Events Portal or WikiNews are currently having the affect on the community they could/would if they collaborated. They both generate allot of interest but there is allot of waisted energy since they both have the same goal and are not collaborating at all. As it is right now, many at the Current Events Portal think WN is an unnecessary fork, while WN's editorial are oblivious to this and are sustaining their Wiki.

There are only two possibilities, 1 that in the "In the news" template on the WP homepage it could forward all headlines to WN news articles, or 2 that WikiNews articles be mirror formats of recent changes to WP articles. As it is right now WN truly is an unnecessary fork.

Congrats on your new post. I think this will be your first major challenge, as there is allot of energy on both sides. But they are both WMF projects and we need to see more wiki sisterhood, after all it is a "sister project". I propose for you to introduce this idea at the next board meeting and to the wider community so that the problem I am addressing is recognised and discussed fully. Thanks.
